Or have you been reading tonight's Telegraph?
They all rule out working with each other. Tories will offer them more autonomy than Labour - they could sell it as near-on independence from Westminster. Both sides would win out of this arrangement.

Which party gave Scotland a vote on independence?

The SNP would never do a deal with the Conservatives of any kind as they would know it would be suicide - they'd lose a hell of a lot of support and would probably lose control of Holyrood. There is not a chance in hell of the SNP doing a deal with the Conservatives. Furthermore, the story in the Telegraph reeks of horseshit - probably leaked by somebody with connections to Labour in order to regain a footing in Scotland. Everyone seems to have seen straight through it.

Do you think the Tories would have even contemplated that without the 2011 Scottish Parliament election result giving the SNP a working majority in Holyrood and thus forcing the issue? Whichever party was in power between 10 and 15 would have been almost obliged to offer SOMETHING.

The Lib Dems and the SNP are completely different - A) The Nick Clegg (Orange Bookers) faction of the Lib Dems are fairly similar to the ideology of the touch feely Tories - Sturgeon is not ideologically similar to Cameron in any way. B) The SNP are a centre-left progressive party where as the Lib Dems and the Conservatives are both varying degrees of right. C) The SNP are a Scottish party and know how toxic Conservatism has been in Scotland since 1966. D) The SNP have got something to lose - the Holyrood elections next May, the Lib Dems had nothing of that calibre to lose. E) The SNP also have the benefit of hindsight and have seen what this coalition has done to the Liberal Democrats. F) The progressive alliance have constantly implied that they would be willing to do a deal/alliance or even at points coalition with Labour but have constantly reiterated no deal of any kind with the Tories.

You mark my words - the Tories will make them an offer they can't refuse. It's in their interests long-term to do so. Why would the Scottish people mind what would effectively be Tories in power in England and the SNP in Scotland?

Clegg came out before the last election and said that the party with the most seats should have an opportunity to form a government. The Tories had the most seats and offered the Lib Dems a chance to go into coalition.

Sturgeon has recently said the SNP "would never go into coalition with the Tories or prop them up in government." I'm minded to believe her.

I have always thought that an SNP/Conservative coalition would be unlikely, and this belief was only reinforced by an an article published today, written by Nicola Sturgeon for the Observer, where she proposes that Labour join with the SNP after the election to 'lock Cameron out of Downing Street'. Surely this shows that a Con/SNP coalition is very unlikely?
