I wonder what will happen to the Sheffield Supertram which Stagecoach run as a concession as National Express have no experience running trams.

Also, has anyone South London based been on the Northern Line Extension yet?

Not sure about Citylink coaches up here which is owned jointly by ComfortDelGro/Stagecoach. It's a rather tired looking operation - would be nice to see it branded NX with a better website and apps.

National Express previously owned Citylink, but were forced to sell it when they won the original ScotRail franchise. Only 35% of it is Stagecoach though, so a minority NX stake might not bring much change.

I like the two photos in that article - one with the new National Express coach, the other with a Stagecoach bus taken circa 15 years ago.
That wouldn't have been as noticeable last year, but Stagecoach's logo changed earlier this year, so the livery was updated.

I'm looking for an excuse to visit Nine Elms Sainsbury's first! Plenty of videos on YouTube of enthusiasts riding the extension from Monday.

I probably would have done it already if the extension wasn't shoehorned into Zone 1 when neighbouring Battersea NR stations are in Zone 2.

This is very random and somewhat Alldritt, but what is the purpose of the silver bar on the passenger side of the top deck?

I have seen these on the tops of double deckers and have never worked out their function.

To stop any low hanging tree branches smashing the top deck window.

Stagecoach also have strike issues, not sure how that would effect a takeover. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland- ... s-58663786

AFAIK Supertram is unique in Stagecoach's portfolio too?

In any case, it's not like all knowledge held by Stagecoach will be eliminated at the point of merger.

Supertram concession only has a couple of years to run anyway, and there's a lot of discussion and consultation going on around what to do when it ends, particularly as it will be similarly timed with the planned replacement of some of the infrastructure and the rolling stock. Sounds like the preferred idea is for the PTE to take back control, deal with the changes and stick procurement and then retender for a long term operator a few years later.

I can see it easily being left to do what it's doing now as part of any takeover, potentially even keeping the Stagecoach branding, especially if the concession goes away soon.

On date it was due to expire... Strange how many people keep forgetting to mention that little nugget.

As others have said if the Sheffield concession is due to end, leave it as it is.

NXG have owned a strange mish-mash of public transport companies and not always branded them as NX, for instance the 'Travel...' series of brands which at its height would've been 10 companies - long since disposed of but they aren't totally averse running without their corporate brand.
