GO Outdoors have been brought out of administration all stores to be retained for at least 12 months, all staff to be transfered to new owners, JD Sports (looks like they did same as EWM did with Bon Marche)

Pret sales down 80% and they're only able to pay 30% of their rent. I'm sure it won't collapse but I think this will be the end of seeing Pret on pretty much every city centre street (well in London at least) given their core market is office workers at lunch.

I noticed when they first reopened a few weeks ago they were doing a 20 coffees for £20 offer (not all at once of course) while Starbucks were initially only letting people pay via their app which sees you having to upload £10+ into your wallet before you can order. Interesting to see food to go places like this that normally rely on a lot of people paying small amounts of money now doing methods like this to get more money from fewer people. Their cashflow is just that low.

By the way I highly recommend doing the Financial Times' £1 one month online trial for loads of really interesting articles about how retail and hospitality are coping during all this. It's nowhere near as stuffy as I assumed it would be, loads of fascinating tidbits and I'll probably carry on being a subscriber beyond the trial.

I had a six month free trial last year and it really is one of the best news apps out there. Well worth the premium price.

the Greggs Rewards app also has a prepayment feature - I could never work out if it was an early foray into contactless/mobile payments or just a way to increase their bank balance.

Agree on the FT. I had a 6 month trial (through Google One) and while I can't quite justify paying full whack for it, was impressed by the journalism.

We get FT free through work (although having to use SSO with 2FA is annoying to just read an article) and I agree its excellent. Mind Janine Gibson is fantastic as an editor so it is somewhat to be expected. Buzzfeed under her was also spectacular.

That'll be the next logo Sports Direct stick on their tat, then.

It seems to be just the retail side - the article suggest they'll continue with direct sales and wholesale.

The Original Factory Shop shutting some stores with just over 24 hours notice to staff. Looks like some staying open.

Staff in one store were told at 1pm today that tomorrow was the last day.
