KPMG have closed 22 of the 25 restaurants, except for three inside Gatwick Airport.

I guess they were franchised by SSP, like most other airport outlets.

High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Years ago, when I was young and handsome, I drove lorries. Well I did quite a bit of rent-a-clown work agency driving, the delivery notes always gave the address, the postal address, however, thats not the address I want, I want the loading bay, which is round the back on a different road, and quite often is unmarked.

Now the High Street has been pedestrianised, you cant even drive the the front of the shop jump out and ask the counter staff, "Where do I deliver to?"

What do you think of the pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre?

Up next is boots. However there at least least 20 store that could close without any real problems as there are so close to many others

There are 4 Boots in Leeds city centre with an additional standalone Opticians on top.

So although the media will paint it as if they are practically leaving the high street, they could leave the big one, the railway station one, and close 3 branches, and thats just in one city.

The same goes for Arcadia who often have numerous stores in the same town and tend to close and open branches regularly, merging or demerging brands together as appropriate

I wouldn't be surprised if Croydon Whitgift Centre is on that list, it's due to go when the centre is demolished for the new Westfield development. There's another in the neighbouring Centrale. Most shops in the Whitgift have another in the Centrale to ensure a presence in town.

The ones that I'd be concerned about are the smaller Boots chemists which are largely used for prescriptions in small suburban or rural areas.

Are they included in the store figures? If so, there are some branches that are so close together that the 'your local Boots pharmacy" strapline is both easily readable and untrue at a certain distance.

Locally, there are three little Boots pharmacies in about 90 seconds walking distance from start to finish.

No idea about the store figures, but Centrale is also a pharmacy. What I also didn't realise is that there's another close by near to East Croydon station, presumably to serve commuter traffic and the nearby Boxpark. There's also an out of town Boots open until midnight on the Purley Way next to Ikea, which is again a pharmacy as well.
