When I was at uni, I used to enjoy trying to get Boots meal deals where the individual parts were over twice the cost of the deal - usually involving a sushi pack, Innocent smoothie, and Gü pudding. Their 'Delicious' sandwiches are usually anything but though, and it's not somewhere that's on my lunch radar these days.

Taking things sightly back on topic, I passed a local Sainsbury's Local today and noticed they had a new fascia with a darker shade of maroon. No opening times on it, either.

My nearest big Sainsbury's has just got rid of the mini Habitat store inside it, in favour of a couple more shelves of Habitat soft furnishings, bedding and cookware scattered throughout the home section of the main store. There's a single Habitat desk display but now no furniture to speak of. The main shop also seems to have quite a bit more Tu clothing (and in fancier displays), and less space for toys and outdoor stuff (which kinda makes sense given there's an in-store Argos selling this stuff).

I've stopped using the larger Sainsbury's which have Argos stores and other concessions in them for the nearest standard supermarket, which has an Argos Click and Collect terminal instead.

I'm surprised at how popular the service is that it has a dedicated Sainsbury's member of staff who goes round the back like a headless chicken to give customers orders from clothes to tv sets.

The TU range has been on sale from Argos for a while now, so use the click and collect to collect clothes I've paid for online instead of going to a Sainsbury's TU department.

Though I believe the sizing available via Argos isn't quite as extensive as you can get directly from the Sainsbury's clothing section.

Second use of Argos Click and Collect today at Sainsbury's. Added the details as normal on the terminal, but the person with the hand held scanner told me the terminal isn't working (i.e. showing the product on his device), so he had to read the barcode on the email before getting my pillows.

My local...Local had the same treatment last week. It's a pretty unpleasant colour up close.

Its branding has been on a downward trajectory ever since the introduction of that superfluous swirl under the logo. Can't stand the custom font nor the new colour palette choices highlighted above.

Seems to have lost some direction.

They were moving away from purple as a colour and were using a sort of grey/brown for a while. Presumably they're going back to purple again, but a different shade.

One thing I’ve never experienced before today at a Sainsbury’s Local - none of the tills were accepting contactless, you had to use card and PIN and it would take ages, best part of a minute, for the transaction to go through post PIN. The transaction’s still yet to appear on my bank account which makes me wonder if card payments were actually down and they were saving everyone’s card details locally or something to eventually upload when their systems were back online. A modern replacement for the old having to take a print of your card when everything went tits up? I’m sure someone on here knows!

There was a printed out sign at the kiosk saying contactless was down yesterday at my standard Sainsbury's. I just assumed the contactless reader was faulty.
