Yes, my balance has climbed pretty quickly the last few weeks too. I'm getting bonus points on things I'd have bought anyway - in some cases, heaps of points on very cheap items. I got 100 points, which I'd have to spend £100 to get in a normal transaction, on a 65p pack of chicken slices. And you still get the bonus points if the item is reduced, so last week I paid 10p and got 80 bonus points.

And almost every time I shop (which is usually at least once a day, cos there's a Local two minutes away) I get the "rub for bonus points" thing, and only once have I not "won" anything.

On the downside, the "double up" option hasn't appeared on my app, despite deleting and reinstalling. Looking on Twitter, I'm far from the only one.

I had the double up option on my phone, but have chosen to keep my points.

I've always won bonus points, between 5-15 points, yet as you mention 100 points for spending very little has been great. 100 points on own brand apple juice and 40 for milk today for example, plus another 250 paper voucher which they posted.

Sainsbury's and Nectar now share the same login, with Nectar customers now having to use either their Sainsbury's groceries login or merge their old login into a Sainsbury's account.

Argos is now allowing online customers to add points to their Nectar accounts online on every product. In the past, it's been on certain products or promotions.

Incidentally there's still a separate login for Argos, I wonder if Sainsbury's will also integrate them into the Sainsbury's/Nectar login in the future?

Logging in with (part of) your Nectar card number was one of the least user-friendly things possible, so I'll be glad if this means the back of it.

It also appears that the Argos POS has finally been adapted as well for customers to collect Nectar in-store as well, although most customers still have to use click and collect online.

Any idea how many Argos stores will never reopen? I was in Caernarfon and the store remains closed. There was still an unopened pallet of catalogues from January.

Are the stores closed because they don't have sufficient staff to operate them, staff couldn't socially distance within them, to ease pressure at distribution centres or just in the hope they can close them forever?

It’s probably a rent thing. There may well be a clause in their agreement that they don’t have to pay anything or a reduced amount to their landlords in the event of something preventing them opening, so those with the higher rents may be exploiting this. Obviously ones in Sainsburys stores have (I presume) zero rent. Soon as they open their doors, I imagine they’ll be back to 100% rent so if footfall is significantly down it won’t be viable.

Don’t think a lot of the public understand still the extend of losses companies have made. I had someone have a go at me in my work the other day because the coffee machine “still” wasn’t fixed (it died during lockdown and needs replacing). He didn’t seem to understand that we simply don’t have the £15,000 in the bank to pay for a new one and that profitability is on a knife edge right now.

M&S rail station stores have been closed until a couple of weeks ago. I’m guessing on the same basis, but I’d have thought in the last couple of months there’d be enough traffic to survive...

They are most likely to be SSP franchises and will still have been closed just like all the Cafe Ritzza, Upper Crust, Millie’s Cookies etc were

I wouldn't be surprised if rent is paid to the parent company from 'Argos Limited' for those concessions. It's no different to commercial radio, where the local businesses that operate the licence pay fees to the larger company such as Global or Bauer, although it's the same overall business moving money across the companies.
