Without wanting to sound like a total snob, WTF with the current situation with supermaket sushi?

With the exception of ONE brand (Taiko sushi from Waitrose), all sushi from supermarkets is bloody disgusting. Tesco is particularly bad but Sainsbury's is not much better.
  • 50% of the rolls contain cheap vegetables like slices of red/green pepper
  • The tuna is invariably salty CANNED tuna rather than nice raw tuna as you would expect
  • The salmon is invariably revolting smoked salmon rather than sashimi
  • There is invariably a stack of cream cheese in the product to pad it out and conceal the cheap crap
  • There is often not even any wasabi included and the soy sauce is dispensed as if it were a precious jewel
Despite this they have the audacity to charge £3.50 or something per box. I'm sure it wasn't always this bad! Why is it impossible to get half-decent packaged sushi these days? Perhpas they should rebrand their product as "Sushi for people who don't like raw fish and like paying 15x the value of the ingredients of the product". Or perhaps they're working their way up to unveiling "Taste the Difference" sushi or something. Seriosuly, I've had better sushi for two bucks at walmart.

Fellow sushi snobs unite!
