When mobile payments were new, Waitrose had POS attached to their. EFTPOS terminals claiming that Apple Pay and Android Pay had a £50,000 limit.

I'm not 100% sure if the limit in Sainsbury's has increased to £45, but I'm sure I recently did a £31 shop using the SmartShop POS using Google Pay.

You're thinking of the contactless card limit. The Google Pay and Apple Pay limit at Sainsbury's is £999.

What's the deal with refunds on Google Pay / Apple Pay?

I once paid for something in Argos on Apple Pay but when they brought it out realised it was too small so asked for a refund. They had no way to refund me unless I inserted my debit card (and I didn't have my wallet) so had to take a gift voucher as a refund.

That's another thing that varies from shop to shop. Asda can't do them on Google Pay, but I've had several refunds from Sainsbury's on it.

My local Sainsbury's has been struggling to offer any eggs at all lately. Now the only ones available are an own-brand 12 pack of bright white-shelled eggs. They are wheeled into place on plastic pallets and the packaging is clear plastic as opposed to a normal cardboard egg box. Seems odd - is everyone really still baking that much more, and having eggs for breakfast more often?

Nah, they're getting bought up to throw at Dominic Cummings when he appears.

Egg demand up 30%. The white ones are the ones McDonald's and the like normally use but aren't apparently:

I didn't realise they were so unpopular. The essential ones I get from Waitrose have always been white.

I don't think I'd ever seen white eggs in the UK before we got some with our Tesco delivery the other week. They're much more common in the US though (but then again so is washing them in the supply chain).

Ultimately the colour preference is entirely aesthetic. There's no difference in flavour: American consumers prefer white shells, we prefer brown.

This doesn't really suggest the sophisticated advertising for which the slogan is known.
Just realised these bags are now history, for which I am thankful.
They've also corrected the slogan on their new, classier green food bags (removing the 'any').
