The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

Over past few days, I've been admiring some pictures of Tesco stores from around the world. And I thought it would make a great thread, on Metropol.

It was inspired by this the Tesco outside of Ilfracombe in North Devon, were I was a couple of weeks ago, the Tesco was unlike any I had been into before it had an all Glass front so felt very light inside, infact it had a very shed like quality to it, it must have been the smallest out of town Tesco I'd been to as it didnt have a petrol station or even a cafe bizarrely.

Here is the view from the side of Ilfracombe Tesco.

Here is a couple of Polish Tesco's.

Here's a random thought - the more I see the "TESCO" logo, the more the word seems completely odd.

Tessa Cohen; Jack's wife.

Jack started with a cheese stall on the market and my old man used to sell him some of his cheese.

Now that I didn't know.

I'll see your "cheese selling father" and raise you with "my mother was PA to the man who founded Golden Wonder".

Finally, someone else who KNOWS what it means!

The amount of people who moan about the problems caused by the rapid expansion of the supermarket started by "Mr. Tesco" never fails to amuse me!

And on the crisp front, my grandfather swears his father missed out on investing in Smith's Crisps due to cashflow problems...

And I'd have to raise you further with the fact that he was also the "cheese correspondent" for the BBC Welsh Home Service through most of the fifties.

Whenever they wanted to talk about cheese, they wheeled him in.

That's how, as a youngster, I got to know the original Broadcasting House in Park Place, Cardiff. The rest is history.

Damn it.

Daddy was the chief construction engineer of the Alaskan Pipeline. In charge of 20,000 + people. Thirty or so died during construction.

Err... I probably should have stopped at the first fact.

Don't worry, I'm folding at this point!

I don't think he got an awful lot of the half crown radio licence, or even the one guinea television licence.
