As does Starling.

The problem is that an increasing number of debit cards are set to decline in an offline situation - and it's not easy for the holder and the retailer to understand which cards these are as they no longer carry any differentiating markings. I have a dozen or so active debit cards and I honestly don't know which are and which aren't. I would imagine my Starling and Monzo are and my longstanding Natwest and Halifax ones with overdraft facilities are not, but all the others... who knows.

Regardless of systems availability, those cards should never be authorised offline - which causes a problem if you're running a supermarket in a low income area.
And I thought I had a lot of cards in my wallet!

What would have happened in the past in an offline situation? I guess Solo cards would have had an obvious zero floor limit, but otherwise wouldn't everything else have just gone through, with the consequences dealt with later?

(Monzo does allow offline transactions, by the way.)
I know - I have an addiction to these things - but I don't carry a dozen debit cards with me! In fact, I could probably get away with not carrying a debit card at all if I didn't occasionally take £20 out in pound coins to tip takeaway drivers with.

Visa Electron and prepaid cards were always marked as 'online use only', and never used to have raised numbers. No idea what would happen if the retailer ignored that and wrote out an imprint slip regardless.

Solo cards didn't feature such markings and had raised numbers - in fact they even had Maestro logos so they could be used internationally, so no idea there.

Oh I got an email from Peugeot about their new logo and completely forgot to post it. They've since taken away the weird preview page the email was directing to and just updated the rest of the site.

It's much clearer that it's a lion at least. Something about the perspective on the previous one always seemed off to me.

Not sure about the lettering tho. It's a bit Smeg.

it always seems to be going "rawr" in a very Joss Whedon's production studio way. or the one from teletubbies.

I see Coke Zero has had a design alteration:

After Next removed their garden range from their Home stores that had it (which happened a couple of years ago) it looks like they've partnered with Homebase to fill the gap left in the stores:

And - it looks like a revised Homebase logo? I wonder if we'll see it roll out more widely.

They do seem to have stopped their endless store closures and put a bigger focus on their homewares, so perhaps they're doing better than they were. The two Homebases near me are both in dire need of modernising though.

Also looks like Homebase are attempting a high street format: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/ur ... 008259072/

As you can imagine, it looks like a crap Wilko.

It does look a bit meh doesn't it. I also like that this brand new store has ancient IBM EPOS equipment found in the nearest skip (or more likely recovered from another store closure)

They run their card terminals seperately to their EPOS system now so I assume they hit some technical limitations.

A bit off topic but Wilko have recently rolled out a new EPOS system too - Diebold Nixdorf in place of the Fujitsu equipment, with new card terminals. They have also introduced a truly rubbish self service where they move the regular till screen around to face the customer, a handheld scanner, and barely any changes to the GUI to make it customer friendly. Plenty of people seem to get confused by it.

More than that, they've reformulated it and it honestly tastes like Panda Pops Cola now. I can't get my head around how they've made such a dreadful mistake. It tastes vile.

It reminds me of that M&S fruity-tasting cola. They've done a campaign around it, asking if people agree or disagree that it's the Best Coke Ever. I wonder if they'll just change it back after a while.
