its done it four times tonight and it is really pissing me off.

every so often the computer would just freeze and not respond to anything at all, no mouse movement, no ctrl+alt+del it would seem as if it was caused by nothing. Thats whats really strange, i get no messages no warnings no BSODs.

I cant check if its a virus because i have no antivirus (cue cdd's speech).

and have yet to check spyware. but that just seems unlikely. at minimum the computer screen will twitch at a mouse movement, but otherwise it just freezes and has to be restarted. It hasnt dont it again, but it seems to be when im listneing to music on myspace (which is all flash and xml files) and just mp3s in WMP. The MSN plugin in WMP seemed to do something towards it, so disabling it when using WMP seems to work a lil bit.

The fan is working, well i can hear it whizzing, it may need cleaning if it's a heat problem that causes it to conk out.

It's probably overheating.

You need to move to a cooler climate.

Mine was doing that and I thought it was something serious.

Then I noticed the air intake was blocked with fluff and dust. I hoovered it and it's been fine since.

Well if it keeps you offline it's *fine* by me.

Your totally right, the fan is doing is job properly and needs fixing.
