City centre pubs have banned drinkers wearing Burberry clothes in a crackdown on alcohol louts.

A list of clothing brands worn by football hooligans and violent youths picked up the luxury label.

It also found Stone Island, Aquascutum and Henri Lloyd to be among the yobs' preferred choice of clothing.

Anyone wearing the brands will now be barred from the Parody and Varsity pubs in Leicester city centre.

A spokeswoman for the pubs told the Leicester Mercury: "This is not necessarily aimed at football violence.

"It is targeting a certain gang of young lads that have been causing concern in the area.

"But if it works to exclude that football element, then so much the better."

A Leicester police spokesman said: "These people are recognised as coming into the city centre day in, day out and causing trouble."

A spokeswoman for Burberry - known for its high-quality coats, scarves and hats - said it had no comment to make.

<Burberry,> Stone Island, Aquascutum and Henri Lloyd: all sophisticated up-market brands i see.

to be honest, i'd like to see more of this type of descrimination. anybody who wears designer lables such as these for anything other than waxing the car has a mental illness.

burberry is almost a uniform amongst the lower (uneducated) classes where i live. i expect that to be the case nationwide.

isn't it funny how, based on what car a person owns (ie, if it's a crappy vauxhall, ford, or peugot with at least two of the following an italic numberplate/alloy wheels/'sports' exhaust/lowered suspension/tinted windows) and what kind of clothes they wear, you can, usually, with almost 100% certainty make a correct assumption about their standard of living, education, moral values etc etc.

it's about time these underclass road tarmacing burberry scumbags were banned from all our drinking establishments. leave them to having sex in bus shelters and the back seat of their cars in a mcdonalds carpark where they belong.

Now, not being up on this, I'm confused. My brother's fiancee who certainly isn't a lager lout but works as a respectable district nurse goes out of her way to buy Burberry stuff, which she says is exclusive. Her handbag cost about £100 alone. :o I thought Burburry was supposed to be posh. :? Don't ask me, I shop at Top Man or Next. ;)

Finally society is standing up to Chavs!

All we need to do now is ban souped-up Nova's and Escort's from being classed as roadworthy.

It does seem strange that such a supposedly "posh" brand has become so synonymous with louts. On http://www.burberry.com it says that it has two Royal Appointments - one by the Queen, and one by Prince Charles! So I suppose the Queen won't be allowed down her local any more?

I'm proud to say, I buy all my clothes from Peacocks, because they are cheap and comfortable.
