Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Saw a BT poster at a bus stop yesterday which caught my eye. It was mostly a standard advert for Infinity, but at the bottom beneath the BT logo was the text 'Be There' - are they trying to create a backronym, despite the fact that BT is a VERY well known acronym already?

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Saw a TV advert last night advertising that Thompson was becoming TUI as well - it's been TUI in other territories for ages and UK holidaymakers will have been told to look out for TUI whilst away rather than Thompson so it's about time that it happened.

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread

Had my first visit to a Morrison's Daily store yesterday, which was a forecourt store that used to operate under Booker's Family Shopper fascia (and before that Mace). A very nice store inside, certainly looking better than it had under any previous brand, which is impressive considering the move to...

Re: Adverts that irritate and entertain

Saw an advert for PG Tips tonight which featured the voice of the woman that does the Masterchef voiceovers announcing a dish in the Masterchef way - are there any special rules around her doing stuff like that? I know I've seen ITV presenters do TV adverts and reference their TV work but I don't th...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

Our town centre Sainsbury's is a weird one - I assume at some point it was a Central format store because it's much bigger than a Local but too small to be a standard sized supermarket (it has a decent chilled section for people going to/from work but a fairly small ambient/frozen section). Saying t...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

A couple of years after we discussed Sainsbury's testing them, and YEARS after we discussed on here the use of them in a Morrisons Local store, Tesco seem to be be the latest supermarket to be experimenting with e-ink price labels in one of their stores, as shown in this tweet from SirKen. Indeed, l...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

I remember a similar sort-of thing happening what must be about 15 years ago now, when UGC (remember them?) sold their Ipswich cinema (and perhaps the lot?) to Cineworld, with UGC having bought it from Virgin Cinemas in the first place. For what I think was a decent amount of time things operated wi...

Re: TV Forum Watch News and Information Board

I've avoided the Doctor Who thread all day. Is it a shitshow? As expected really. A couple of members not particularly showering themselves in glory (barcy for one), and then backpeddling as if whatever they've said is absolutely fine because it's 'a debate'. As I've said in the thread, I'm happy t...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

I think it really is a mixed bag up and down the country to the quality of stores - Ipswich station was refurbished last year and as part of it they got rid of the old WHSmith Travel and built new shop space, with WHS taking one of the new units. It looks much better and cleaner in there. Likewise, ...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

I had a new Clubcard issued a few months ago, and whilst in my Apple Wallet it features the design from the Tesco mobile banner, the actual physical one remains the old design, with the large embossed Tesco logo that you can only see when you tilt it and see the reflection.

Re: Decision '17

When the election was called, I was immediately quite concerned as I could see nothing other than a Theresa May/Conservative landslide victory, with Labour suffering heavy losses. For the first few weeks, I continued in this way, but more recently I am sensing the emergence of some strange sensation...
