Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

apparently they've finally updated their ancient banking app so you don't need the stupid wee calculator card reader to send tiny amounts of money any more. i'm a shameless "oh i'll sort the bill" person on nights out (I want the Amex points) but there was always one colleague who used pa...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Given it's no longer "Everything £1", maybe the Poundland name should be retired? Isn't it called Dealz in Ireland, where the currency is the Euro so the Poundland name wouldn't make sense? The Dealz name doesn't mention a specific price or currency, so it's futureproof. Even when they di...

Re: What's going on with all this gender stuff?

When did this happen? when did the terms men and women become an identity and something you can just become? and how can it be reconciled? Having followed this thread, I must confess to being intrigued as to how this particular issue has got to you so much. If it's personal and to do with people in...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

Nationwide have rebranded. Their old logo was dated but the new branding has got a very 90s feel. https://www.nationwide.co.uk/about-us/a-good-way-to-bank/whats-changing/ Good grief, that is awful. It looks like a reject from Natwest's early 00s rebrand. From a distance at first glance the new all ...

Don't they still have some in the Midlands? Thought they'd remodelled some of their 'mothballed' stores in 2021 and reopened them as Pep & Co?

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Looks like Poundland are running these shops with a very light touch rebranding: https://www.sloughobserver.co.uk/news/23824921.wilko-reopens-poundland-today-maidenhead-high-street/ I imagine it's temporary but I expected them to close and put their normal fit out (which isn't especially elaborate)...

Re: Energy bills: How spanked will YOU get?

I ended up with Octopus in the end, they've announce this morning a unit cut of almost 3p / unit from 1 October as the energy price cap falls. Not exactly a life changing cut but at least things are starting to move in the right direction.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Find it interesting how we're seeing these brands sorta survive off online Which again begs the question as to why The Range wants Wilko's brand name. I'd get it if it was just some startup funded by venture capitalists who wanted to turn Wilko into an online business. I'd even get it if CDS/The Ra...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

the ones on the closure list tomorrow are the lucky ones now imo Honestly, the lucky ones are probably those working in the 50 odd stores B&M have bought. 'Not being clear' if the Wilko staff are part of the deal and will join B&M under TUPE as is being widely reported is actually very clea...
