Re: Pres Cafe Watch News and Information Board
I just received a warning for trying to 'bypass the character limit' in the Eurovision thread. I said all i needed to say in that short sentence so why is the board throwing a strop because i typed '30 character limit' so i could post what i wanted? Your message didn't really add much tho did it? I...

Re: There an election this year.....
Parliament will have to convene if only to allow for the formalities of dissolution to happen.
I think it'll be a weird election, probably good, but I can't quite work out what sort of weird it might be.
Conservatives as the 4th party behind Lib Dems and Alba. That'd be weird, for example.

Re: Old supermarket signage
Until recently there was still a handful of Icelands with the 90s logo - wouldn't surprise me if there still is 1 or 2 remaining. Morrisons aggressively rebranded everything all at once, the exceptions being the handful of supermarkets they (intended to) close or sell off imminently, but that was qu...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread
But recently it's got worse. Put a few things on the card last month which I wanted to pay off in full this month only to find that I now can't pay debit card through the app as apparently VM can't provide this anymore even though everyone else can. My only options were either an automated phone nu...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread
This is reminding me of the heady days of the early 2010s when Byres Road in Glasgow had three branches of Santander within about 50m of each other. Looking at Street View, the former Bradford & Bingley was gone by 2012, but the ex-Alliance & Leicester lasted until 2019. (The Abbey branch r...

Re: The Technology Thread
If your phone had been a Samsung and had failed in a similar way, you would have almost certainly had to send it away. At least Apple has a network of stores in fairly easy reach. Really? I live close to Nottingham, which has no Samsung store. When my Galaxy S9+'s USB port binned out a few years ag...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread
Nationwide's press release about the Branch Promise said: The Promise ensures the Society is protecting branches and we will only close a branch when we absolutely need to, for example a lease expiry enforced by the landlord. They repeated that line when announcing the Virgin Money offer , specifyi...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread
That'll change when the Virgin Money takeover goes through. I can't see them keeping branches of both open long term if they're close to each other. Probably the reason their promise is only to 2026, two years from now. You're wrong on both accounts: We know branches are important to our customers....

They haven't announced any closures since 2022 and no further closures are planned.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
Retail parks often de-brand units following the closure of a unit, presumably it looks better to have an 'empty' unit than a closed one. Meadowhall used to go to great efforts to completely hide closed store fronts, boxing the whole thing over - although I noticed during covid when they lost a whole...
