Re: The rise of the dodgy shop
Have to say I’ve not seen any that say they’re cash only? I don’t think any of this is a tax thing.

Re: The rise of the dodgy shop
There’s one in my village. An Off License with very flashy-looking signage, rammed full of stock including lots of alcopops and a baffling array of sweets. Exactly the same opening times as the Co-op a few doors up and with higher prices. Always empty. Brand new Mercs parked round the back. Make it ...

Re: Media Talk Forum Watch News and Information Board
People let themselves worry too much about The Clique sometimes around here, whereas it all really makes a lot more sense if you just condense down enough Kojak/Solari/Studio7/KatsKaravan/Latest-Username-This-Week posts on who is kissing up to who first into something simpler to read. To save every...

WH Smith? Que? https://twitter.com/lewmidds/status/1738219090077003975 What’s fun about this is it’s on a retail park and therefore not one you’d necessarily refer to as “WHS Preston” (which would surely be the city centre one). Seen another pop up on Twitter so it’s definitely a thing. I love an i...

Not sure I understand what you mean by serving a different purpose? It’s a website where people chat about stuff, seems pretty much the same to me…

Re: How much would the licence fee have to rise before you would cancel it?
I still think lumping it in with council tax is the way forward. Council tax discounts would neatly apply to tv licensing too, plus it becomes a progressive tax rather than what it is now. Bigger houses pay more, seems fair enough. Being part of council tax also gives it that slight distance from th...

Can we have a QI-style klaxon go off any time someone mentions W1A and Perfect Curve?

Re: Fragrances
I’m a big fan of Vetiver Pamplemousse from Zara. Not seen it for a while though so it may have disappeared but it’s got a really fresh smell without the heaviness of a lot of other fragrances. Cedar Adventurer from River Island is quite nice too although I find it doesn’t really last.

Re: Pres Cafe Watch News and Information Board
Every time I go into the BBC News thread they are taking about “the 5 missing presenters” I enjoyed the suggestion they should just accept the new terms so things are resolved. Come on ladies, know your place and stop being stubborn, you’re messing up the rota! A lot of people commenting have clear...
