Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Depends how much P4U had already paid, I suppose. If they paid 40% of the arranged fee, then that's two years paid, and the name should remain for that time. Is there any benefit to anybody in retaining the name of a collapsed firm though? Depends how ingrained into the public mindset the name is. ...

Re: Sky or Virgin Media?

Having been a customer of both services, I can say the following... If you are TV obsessed and like US shows boxsets and all that, then I would say that Sky is the way to go. If you're not too bothered about big US shows and want fast broadband, then Virgin is the way to go. TiVo is a neat piece of ...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Altrincham used to have a McDonald's in the town centre until the mid 2000's since then they relocated to a retail park about 2/3 miles away and last I checked it still remained boarded up. Warrington used to have three Burger King's at one point, now we only have one that is located by a busy junct...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

https://twitter.com/stockybeat/status/391620504777265152/photo/1 From the Sainsburys Local near where I used to live, they've decided to shut up shop for a couple of weeks for a big refurb, apparently it's been open 11 and a half years and due for one I've been told, although weirdly its frontage i...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Ugh, Intu, they kept the Trafford Centre rebrand rather quiet didn't they? For anyone who's been there the intu name doesn't feel right with the style and the centre of the building. They've even got rid of the ridiculous red uniforms, but they fit in with the style of the place. So far I've heard n...

Re: Long forgotten brands that sank without trace

Also look at SirKen's blog for a photo of an experimental Morrisons in Wales. That would be Wrexham, the first Morrisons to be purposely built with the 'store of the future' format, the deli, the butchers and the fishmongers is all in the middle rather than on the perimeter like every other Morriso...

Re: Long forgotten brands that sank without trace

However it does remind me of a time until the mid 1980s when Sainsbury's sold all their alcohol from an entirely separate shop next to the actual supermarket. I'm sure this must have been to do with legislation on alcohol sales at the time. I remember it felt like an airport duty free shop. There's...

Oh my yes http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a6/HappyEater.jpg Also, I just remembered Happy Shopper existed. No relation. They had one on the A55 in North Wales for a very very very long time, it turned into a Little Chef at least ten years ago now. Going back to Our Price, I seem to remem...

Re: Long forgotten brands that sank without trace

There's still a Wimpy in Shopping Shitty / Halton Lea Shopping Centre in Runcorn, which by the sounds of other Wimpy's is located in a place that hasn't changed much since 1976. Here in Warrington we had Pizzaland but that closed, as a child I preferred it. We too used to have a Fatty Arbuckles, but...
