Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
Called that move from day 1, having worked for Peacocks/Ewm before, I know how he works. Good or bad? Do tell... I worked for Peacocks for 12 years nearly and before EWM there was a real buzz about the place and at the time we had nicer stores then Primark did, then when EWM tookover they cut hours...

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread
The one on the retail park near me (think it was one of the first Food warehouses) has a bigger range of Gino's new meals, then the little Iceland at the end of my road. I want my Iceland to get the new style refit, but I guess it will be one of the last as it has only been open a few years.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
I wonder if they will keep it entirely separate, as I can not imagine Jack Wills being sold in Sports Direct, or indeed any Sports Direct stuff sold in a Jack Wills. If EWM buys it, he will be looking at the price of rant on the units, if it's to much he will close them and have it online or inside...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
Is it just me or are pretty much all Sainsbury's Local stores looking tired and a bit unloved these days? Unlike Tesco I've not really seen many attempts to refit stores beyond the kit they got when they opened, and as a result there's a right old mix of shopfronts around - a ex-Central store near ...

Couldn't beat a fake plant and a water feature in a shopping centre in the 90s!

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
I presume this is the first advert with the refreshed Boots branding. Having passed a few stores, I think the window promo posters etc look pretty good with the logo free'd from it's oval. I'd be surprised if they replace exterior signage given the size of the store estate, but I guess we'll see. I...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
I'm confused - last time I was in an Argos I browsed on a tablet then ordered and paid on a separate touchscreen device. Obviously combining the two is an innovation, but how does that make this the first self-service store? Do they mean it's no longer possible to order and pay at a manned checkout...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
Not a rebrand, but I noticed my local Homebase has had it's frontage spruced up with a new fascia/banner type thing the length of the store. Presumably it's trying to make the place look more exciting. https://up.metropol247.co.uk/scottishtv/homebase_banner.jpg Think this is the re-brand that has t...

Re: ***THE OFFICIAL ALL NEW SAFEWAY THREAD***
Flipping heck I use to think the Co-op was expensive until McColls took over the one down the road, always empty when I got in, think it's only used for the cash machine and for other bits people walk 2 mins up the road to Tesco Express or Iceland.

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
Argos is finally coming to my local Sainsbury's superstore. After years of rumours of "It's not coming 'ere mate" and "it's too small for an Argos", the former sound and vision section is being stripped out by the shop fitters. Staff in my store confirmed today that it's being r...
