Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread
Waitrose is to merge their loyalty card scheme with John Lewis. https://www.thegrocer.co.uk/service-and-availability/john-lewis-and-waitrose-to-roll-out-joint-loyalty-scheme/648462.article?fbclid=IwAR21GdIxdzZN5Qgz11R5C_Anzlw0mpUcq_enxj8n4xORaOWg1eiXNnpGHSs I was confused by this because I thought ...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
I wouldn't be surprised if rent is paid to the parent company from 'Argos Limited' for those concessions. It's no different to commercial radio, where the local businesses that operate the licence pay fees to the larger company such as Global or Bauer, although it's the same overall business moving...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
Any idea how many Argos stores will never reopen? I was in Caernarfon and the store remains closed. There was still an unopened pallet of catalogues from January. Are the stores closed because they don't have sufficient staff to operate them, staff couldn't socially distance within them, to ease pre...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
My local store had the same daft arrangement of a sign with plastic bags above. About a week later though they had been replaced with the new style bags.

The SmartShop scanners that I have seen on a recent installation are released simply by pressing a Release Handset image on the scanner and then scanning the Nectar card from the handset.

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread
The Gibraltar refit continues. They seem to have some new freezers and are working on the new pizza counter. The checkout, cafe and bar are untouched.

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
So these replicate the functionality of the QuickPay machines that existed in the larger stores - many of which they've now closed. It did surprise me that there wasn't any self pay option as it seemed to be a backwards step.

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
Has anyone seen an Argos in a Sainsbury’s with Quick Pay machines? Our local store before it moved from the High Street to Sainsbury’s had Quick Pay machines but now it’s in Sainsbury’s these no longer exist.
Also do these stores have their own cash office facilities or are they using Sainsbury’s?

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread
What is the position if a retailer fails to charge for a bag? In the past week or so I've been given four bags without charge. In one case it was at a petrol station and it might be that it is a franchise and therefore falls below the 250 employee limit. In the other case it was a national retailer ...
