Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

Aldi, Lidl and Iceland will close at 3pm on Sunday if England reach the World Cup final. Iceland doing one better than the other two actually by saying they'll close at 2pm. The 3pm close on the surface might seem nice but just because the doors shut at 3pm surely that won't mean staff all get to l...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

It may be the virtual high street, but today was my first time noticing that Moonpig had a rebrand towards the end of last year, which looks less childish than the old look, and also drops the .com from the brand name. Here's the Brand New article. Just saw an advert for them on TV but oddly the log...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

I'm sure it was an oversight, but my local branch had the 1970s yellow logo on the outside of the lift shaft that sticks out several stories above the municipal car park it adjoined until the Swiss MT logo two-tone green era was finally adopted in around 2007. Clearly somebody must have known about...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

Was in Norwich today and noticed that they had two branches of Virgin Money within a couple of doors of each other for whatever reason, with the second, fairly big branch open on a Sunday. Took a closer look and on the door of the big branch there was a sticker on the door which explained the branch...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region

Yes, sliding doors are going on (they're needed for compliance soon aren't they). Along with the exterior work, the toilets are getting tanks, and both standard and first class are getting updated to some extent. Standard sees the biggest change with new seating and all, whilst they're keeping the n...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

Apparently the Benest's of Millbrook is, like all Jersey's Sandpiper Food Halls, to become a Morrison's Daily, but keeping the Benest's name. https://jerseyeveningpost.com/news/2018/04/05/first-morrisons-daily-store-is-due-to-open-next-month/ Some interested and repeated mentions of Morrisons havin...

Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread

Went to the Liverpool Street station McDonald's today, which has been somewhat ruined by the new format. I think they've extended the kitchen a bit, and then removed all the seating in order to be able to fit the self-service tills in, so you have no choice but to have your food to take away. It's a...

Re: Another 'Yet Another phone thread'

Just out of interest, is there any reason you're not considering Android as an option? (other than the AirPods) I recently got an Apple Watch (which I also really like and has definitely prodded me to become much fitter) so on one level it's simply because you need an iPhone to work the thing! I'm ...

Re: Another 'Yet Another phone thread'

I currently have a three and a bit year-old iPhone 6, and whilst up until now I've not needed a replacement phone, I think the time has finally come. It's still a relatively speedy phone for most things, but I think I may have accidentally begun it's demise! Last year I dropped it from a ridiculousl...

Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread

Popped into Tesco today and noticed that Coke Zero has had a sneaky redesign in advance of the sugar tax - saw a 2l red bottle (as for whatever reason they've reintroduced those after getting rid of them a few years ago) and assumed it was just normal Coke, only to look closer and see the black band...

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread

Oooh yes, near where I used to live around a year ago a Family Shopper (a Booker brand)/BP petrol station became a Morrisons Daily. I've not been in but apparently it's a lot nicer than it had been under previous fascias (before becoming a Family Shopper it was a Snax24 and then a Mace) - there's so...
