Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
Those Tesco yellow labels haven't always been correct, I've tried buying the 600ml Glaceau SmartWater bottle which to this day has a meal deal sticker, but has never been part of the meal deal. However Tesco have finally added the smaller own brand orange and apple juice bottles to them. Wonder if ...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
All I know about Sainsbury's meal deals is that their 'Duck & Hoison' wrap is much inferior to Tesco's hoison duck wrap. Yes, Tesco's wraps are all very nice. The Hoisin Duck one is one of their best. But my favoured Meal Deal at the moment is Morrisons; it includes The Best sandwiches and trip...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
An interesting article (and video) featuring the remnants of Edinburgh's BHS store from BBC News: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-37177993 Sad set of circumstances but great opportunity to flatten another awful 60s-design building in Edinburgh city centre. It's category b listed - only the rose ...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread
I took part in a survey on Tesco SELs a while back and was wondering when these would roll out. You can see some of the other designs they were considering here. I remember at the time thinking the descriptor text was pretty illegible on some of them.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
I wonder why anyone does bother really - there are better places to go for almost everything they do, but they do seem to do decent business. I'm sure I read in the business pages one day that it's pretty much the high-price rail station/airport/service station small convenience stores that are kee...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
Sorry to drag the Co-op back up but what a transformation (admittedly with a major refurb) from this: http://statics.192.com/estreet/original/large/2282/22823839.jpg Into the picture in this tweet: https://twitter.com/CP_Whitf/status/739819168443322368 Obviously not all the stores will get such a r...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
I read earlier that Retail Acquisitions were paid £25m from BHS before the company went bust. There are apparently 30 interested parties in the BHS business. However it could be asset stripping, such as stores or other parts of the business. I wouldn't be surprised if Sports Direct finally get some...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
Shame. I enjoyed nicking other people's discarded vouchers at the self service till and getting about 14p off my shopping. I got told off for doing that once when the self-checkout assistant spotted me doing that. So did I. Responded that they should have removed it and ripped it up if they didn't ...

Dale Farm seems like a particularly odd choice of fake name to me: https://www.metropol247.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6503 Dale Farm seems like a particularly odd choice of fake name to me: https://www.metropol247.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6503 Especially when I can already get Dale Farm cheese:...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread
Either way, I really don't like the falseness of the branding and if I had the choice of a Tesco branded pack of minced beef or a Dale Farms (the proposal in the survey) I would choose Tesco. Haven't you just talked yourself into buying a slightly more expensive brand? This is based on the Dale Far...
