Re: Adverts that irritate and entertain
Please tell me Asda hasn't scrapped their pretty decent Dianne Morgan voiced campaign for whatever the fuck this weird, fake DIY thing is that they've started airing this week.

More Pret job cuts. That purchase of Eat has to be one of the most unfortunately timed sales in history.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
It's taking itsu a remarkably long time to reopen their stores, so far 15 out of 70. They seem to be the last of the major(ish) lunchy places to be reopening. I guess their ingredients are more expensive and don't last very long but it still feels very slow, especially with furlough as it was ending...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
For a generation over 30, Fridays occupies a special place in eharts (sic) and minds Yes as a shithole I went to in the later stages of my teenage years when their higher prices made me think I was more grown up even though the food was lower quality than any of the cheap fast food places I normall...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times
This has popped up in the former Mothercare in Westfield Stratford. It looks a little more permanent than you'd think for something that will probably be temporary but I expect this one will be the one they wheel out in front of the press and will perhaps look a bit fancier than other centres across...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
The John Lewis closures don't seem awful in the grand scheme of things (job cuts aside), mostly their small at home and their two tiny travel stores. I read on Twitter that the Watford branch has been rent free for some time and if they can't make it work without that overhead then what hope would i...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times
I think the variations on providing contact details are down to another case of the terms 'guidance' and 'rules' being used interchangeably by the government, with it not really being clear what is and isn't law. Thinking about this further, if someone tests positive, informs the pub and then they ...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times
My prediction is that next weekend is actually likely to be quieter in the pubs, not busier. Although I know a hell of a lot of people who specifically avoided this weekend because of how busy they thought it would be and are going next weekend instead, it could snowball if everyone's thinking the ...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times
About 2 people clapping here for the NHS clap, everyone here did it during the weekly applause. Me and a couple of friends tried a few pubs yesterday near Shoreditch and it was a pretty good experience, didn't book anywhere either. Security very much have the same job as those at supermarkets. Every...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
Pret sales down 80% and they're only able to pay 30% of their rent. I'm sure it won't collapse but I think this will be the end of seeing Pret on pretty much every city centre street (well in London at least) given their core market is office workers at lunch. I noticed when they first reopened a fe...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times
I’m impressed with the efficiency of the test. We got our results back this afternoon - negative. From test to results it was no more than 26 hours. I do question having been offered the test though. It seems like testing for the sake of it! And to help fiddle the government’s figures. What's wrong...
