Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

Looks like Interstate has finally been dropped from store signage now. The new store that's just opened at Welwyn Garden City uses the new slab font for everything.

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

I'd say a logo change is pretty unlikely, considering they're just in the middle of updating most of the own brand packaging, which obviously has the current logo. Plus to update signage on 1000 stores would probably be pretty costly.

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

The wooden cladding over the counters is being rolled out to most stores. The only exceptions are stores that haven't had a refit in a number of years, ie the ones that still have the dark blue walls, as the cost of updating the counter area is greater than the amount of money the improved counters...

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread

Interstate's still being used for all the building signage though, and on the POS that's printed in store. It's just the advertising that's printed out of store that uses the new font.

Re: The *OFFICIAL* Asda thread

oooh, just realised I forgot to mention the latest Asda innovation. Self-scan with conveyors. HOWEVER, unlike the original Tesco disaster versions these are essentially like a standard checkout (conveyor first, scanner and packing area at the end). Thus is there are two of you one person gets to pl...

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread

That was more the doing of Sir Ken though wasn't it. SInce his departure things do seem to be run a bit better, although I was amazed to find out that Morrisons still do all of their stock ordering using pen and paper. It's also interesting that they're considering buying Iceland, which would mean a...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Not sure where you've got your info from, as I'm pretty sure you're not old enough to remember any of that. From my memory, Minworth went - Carrefour 1977 - Gateway 1987ish - ADSA 1989ish - ASDA Wal-mart Supercentre early 2000s - ASDA Supercentre 2009ish (IIRC Minworth used the correct spelling of ...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

The Merry Hill Asda was built as a Carrefour, so it could be that they had that layout since it opened, and Asda just carried it over when they aquired it.

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

It still amazes me that Asda are using such an outdated POS system on their checkouts when every other supermarket has moved over to LCD screens by now. It makes you wonder where they're actually getting all the kit from, as I'd be surprised if it's still in manufacture. They must have a huge stock ...

Re: The *OFFICIAL* Asda thread

I'm nervous posting about Sainsbury's in an Asda thread, but here goes. Was in an Edinburgh store today buying lunch and at the Food to Go crisps shelves there were large red SELs visible placed next to the smaller 'normal' SELs. The red SELs read: Wrong capacity This label is the incorrect width/c...
