Re: Pres Cafe Watch News and Information Board
It's amusing someone declaring they don't care about how a forum is run then gets into a rant about being banned from said forum.

Re: Pres Cafe Watch News and Information Board
tellyblues' disgust about My Mum, Your Dad is rather odd and a bit puritanical.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
It seems those six Empire cinemas that closed recently are being eyed by rival smaller chains: https://www.screendaily.com/news/rival-uk-ireland-exhibitors-eye-closed-empire-cinemas-sites-exclusive/5184512.article Omniplex is an interesting one because the Anderson family used to have a stake in Emp...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
I do think the boutique cinemas do a good job of keeping revenue within one building so if it has a restaurant or a good food offering then you're more likely to stay there for longer.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
I bet it really stings for Empire that Barbenheimer happened two weeks after they went into administration, it might have helped things for a bit longer.
I find it interesting that while the multiplexes are having issues, the smaller cinemas like Everyman are thriving.

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region
When TfL proposed closing the ticket offices, the RMT kicked off a massive stink and held a number of strikes but in the end, the offices ended up closing anyway. Contactless is expanding further especially on the metro services so it won't be long before you will able to travel to Windsor or Dartfo...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
Empire were finished then they sold a chunk of the chain off to Cineworld in 2016/17. They were left with some very poor sites after that sale, the Chairman at the time boasted about having shares in Cineworld aswell, very bizarre transaction. Without stuff like the flagship site on Leicester Squar...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region
I think there’s certainly an argument for rationalising the number of ticket offices across the network, but not shuttering them altogether. There are almost certainly a host of smaller stations which do not justify having a ticket office anymore; for example on the London Overground and Elizabeth ...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region
I think ticket offices or some sort of hub should exist at the big stations like Waterloo, Manchester Piccadilly etc but I do it's a little unnecessary at some stations either numbers are so low, it's not worth the cost or in certain London stations. Indeed, I don't think anyone using the metro serv...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
Empire Cinemas has gone bust. Six closed immediately, leaving Sunderland and Wigan with no cinema at all. The other half of the chain remains open while the administators look for a buyer. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-66134084 I would imagine some of the closed sites will be acquired by othe...

Studio7 has only been on the site for two weeks and is rubbing people the wrong way.
