Re: Sleepy TV/vhs/dvd
You guys must have the same romantic view of New York that I have of the UK. I love this city, I really do, just not my borough. If I were in deepest Queens, I probably wouldn't be complaining. I don't know how to describe Staten Island/Richmond County, other then the fact that it's largely suburban...

Re: Sleepy TV/vhs/dvd
Staten Island. It's absolutely horrid. I spend most of my free time in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Re: What do you use?
I suppose, but out of all the programs I run, it's the one that is most likely to freeze. Then again, I am on a 5 year old iMac.

Re: Sleepy TV/vhs/dvd
I usually fall asleep to the World Service, and occasionally local news radio (1010 WINS). It helps drown out traffic noise, as I live on a busy thoroughfare.

Re: whyPhone?
The one thing that I miss about WebOS is the notification system. The pop-up notifications on iOS are absolutely awful. WebOS handles notifications absolutely beautifully, far better than any other mobile OS currently on the market I've heard that about iPhones before, what doesn't iOS do with its ...

Re: whyPhone?
I just picked up a (black) Verizon iPhone 4 yesterday, after living with a Palm Pre for a year. I loved WebOS for its elegance, but the shoddy hardware quality and lack of decent apps made it hard to live with. I was seriously considering Android, as Verizon has a good selection of them. I could hav...

Re: The new Kindle?
I have the 3G version, but rarely use the internet function, I think you'll be fine with the Wi-Fi only version. I think they've really perfected the form and screen with this version, it honestly feels like you're reading real paper. They updated the software so the books now have real page numbers...

Re: The Americans and the Brits
I assure you that Americans (save for Middle America) do not view the UK as being like "Mary Poppins". Most of my peers are really into contemporary British shows like Misfits and Skins, so our perception is much different than that of our parents, who grew up with "Mary Poppins"...

Re: Adverts that irritate and entertain
There are a few of these ads for the New York State Lottery. I haven't decided whether they're brilliant or awful.

Re: Travelling Abroad - Phones n such
Most places require you to sign or enter a pin, even if it's just on a receipt. I haven't been down to Florida in about 5 years, but if you're planning on going to any beaches, I recommend Clearwater, right near Tampa. The water is much warmer than the Atlantic, and it's pretty empty this time of ye...
