Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
I bet it really stings for Empire that Barbenheimer happened two weeks after they went into administration, it might have helped things for a bit longer. I find it interesting that while the multiplexes are having issues, the smaller cinemas like Everyman are thriving. Everyman (similarly The Light...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region
I’m not exactly well versed in these things, but could they in theory link a railcard to a payment card and automatically apply the appropriate discount at the tap in/out?

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region
I fully support the removal of ticket offices. If there’s a ticket office there, people will queue for it. If there isn’t, they’re forced to find the alternative. We can’t allow people, who make not liking self service their personality, to continuously hold us back from moving forward. That said - ...

Re: E-bike rental
Went to Berlin recently and used the Lime e-scooters to get around some of it. They were *fun* although I guess we’re not allowed them everywhere here because all the boomers will complain. Seen they do them in specific locations although I didn’t see any when I was in London a few weeks back.

A graphic changing from one colour to another has well and truly fired up some members over there.

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread
You’re missing the point about Waitrose. Their ad campaign about lowering prices isn’t primarily about attracting new customers, it’s about stopping them losing existing ones. They still make a point of having the highest animal welfare standards, and still maintain counter services where others are...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region
I will add - it does annoy me we don’t have a standard style. Bradford recently had digital screens installed which are different to any others I’ve seen elsewhere. TSK.

https://twitter.com/geofftech/status/1667461446106480640?s=46&t=zs0rPu05hfILDCFLfoOXJQ Thoughts on the new boards at Euston? Some of the replies complain that it isn’t ordered by departure time but I prefer this way of doing it. Suppose the only issue is if you have an advance ticket for a speci...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread
That one board in isolation looks a mess but the individual elements around the store look quite nice. I’d say though that they’re trying to pitch to multiple audiences at once which for Waitrose is a bigger challenge than for most supermarkets - your traditional poshos but also the cozzie livs crow...

Re: Pres Cafe Watch News and Information Board
It is indeed absolutely ridiculous and pathetic, having your account restricted with no explanation whatsoever. I can only imagine it's because we said things that Andrew Wood (yes, we know it's you running the show, why bother hiding?) didn't particularly like. The Schofield thing was a classic ex...
