Re: The rise of the dodgy shop

Not entirely on topic, but as vape shops were mentioned in the post, it has me thinking, what's going to happen to them? By the end of the year they're going to find 95%+ of their products banned, and what remains put in plain packaging and behind the counter, I'm guessing it won't be a viable busi...

https://news.sky.com/story/new-body-shop-owner-to-call-in-administrators-for-uk-chain-13067609 Body Shop to go into administration. I can remember all the ladies in my life used to be mad about the Body Shop, in the late 1990s - to early 2000s, not seen anything branded by them in any of our bathroo...

The rise of the dodgy shop

Now, I live in a fairly quiet rural area, but have friends and family dotted around various small market towns nearby. One thing I’ve noticed, really since lockdown is the proliferation of shops that sell nothing in particular - fizzy drinks, prime, vapes or barber shops that just seem to be open at...

Re: Fragrances

My daughter got me a selection of Ted Baker body sprays for Christmas and I must say, very nice to indeed. Only tried the “vintage amber” one so far, smells what I’d describe as “very clean”.

Re: How much would the licence fee have to rise before you would cancel it?

I’d probably agree with that. I do always turn to the BBC for major events though, but in terms of entertainment I can’t say I’ve watched or looked forward to watching anything on any BBC channel for a very long time. Maybe I last sat down and watched the Jill Dando documentary in 2019. I also quest...

How much would the licence fee have to rise before you would cancel it?

In the news today, a suggestion that next year the TV licence could rise £ 15 to £173 or about £14 per month. For me, it still represents good value. In the same ballpark as Netflix and Disney+, but, I don’t think it could go much higher. I don’t watch too much terrestrial tv these days, and don’t l...

Fragrances

https://up.metropol247.co.uk/Dr%20Lobster*/lynx.jpg I'm looking for some distinctive body sprays and fragrances to try - when it comes to deodorant body sprays, all the usual stuff I find a bit boring, it's good that Superdrug seem to have Lynx Java as an exclusive which I used when I was at school...

Re: The Technology Thread

I did in the end manage to get hold of a natural titanium iPhone 15 pro from Apple in Norwich. Did the trade in in-store and Apple gave me £150 for my old iPhone 11, which considering was 4 years old, had 80% battery health and a dodgy charging port, I didn't feel robbed. The iPhone 11 was my first ...

Re: Lovely Lightbulbs

Have John Lewis got close to the holy grail of retro Christmas lights? https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-40-led-retro-lights/p110287383 They aren't as saturated as they look in the phone pics below, they seem to be warm white LEDs inside a colour plastic envelope and they very closely mimic the s...

Re: The Technology Thread

Could you not just get the battery replaced? I recently got the one in my iPhone 12 Mini changed at the Apple store. I had assumed it would involve hassle like resetting the phone and having to restore from a backup and re-authenticate Apple Pay cards etc etc etc, but there was none of that at all....
