Re: The new iPad
I won't upgrade my current iPad 2 for the new iPad, but I may get an Apple TV, just so I can stream movies onto my TV from the iPad, and to share photos, etc, when necessary. Go for it, I bought Apple TV in January and mirroring from the iPad is fantastic, even if you're not a fan of mirroring, its...

Re: Are Sony fooked?
I must be the only person I know that is a it Sony mad, currently my main TV is a 26" LCD HD TV bought in 2007 that's still working like a dream, a Playstation 2, two Blu-Ray players, a docking station for my iPhone and a DVD/HDD recorder and that is the only dud device out of the lot. I take t...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
Hmmm... had an email from HMV this morning offering me £5 off a purchase in store and telling me that the Manchester Arndale shop (formerly a Zavvi) has now closed (which must have happened since last week...). Mind you, the Manchester Market Street HMV was originally touted as their biggest in the...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
Didn't realise until I read this thread that Poundworld and Discount UK were the same company, we've had a Discount UK for about 6 months on a retail park in Warrington, went in there today and stocked up on soft drinks (on a long car journey tomorrow) and was pleasantly surprised, looks better than...

Re: What is the Co-op known as where you are?
I was in North Wales the other day and noticed that the Co-op was known as The Cooperative Bwyd Sadly all the other signage besides the main sign were in english, so I don't know what the welsh translation for 'Good with Food' is! They were all pretty much The Cooperative Bwyd when I was visiting t...

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread
I've worked in a store the size of a Morrisons Local and it doesn't take "10 hours" to replace SELs or whatever Morrisons are claiming. In a normal sized Morrisons store it would take about 10 hours and several members of staff to change the SELs, about 6 hours of it done on a Sunday nigh...

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread
They're already advertising for staff (internally) there, so I would have thought everything would have been granted.SirKen wrote:Upton Rocks is a great site but I dont think plans have yet been granted?

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread
Three 'M Local' stores will be open on the 'M62 Corridor' pretty soon, one of them as shown in the picture there, one of the other stores will be at Upton Rocks near Widnes, I think one of them may have opened already as some advertising already has 'Not at Morrisons Local' on screen.

Re: Is it the beginning of the end for HMV?
I mean the HMV. There are two massive ones, one next to the arndale and one inside the arndale, and they both seem to sell the same stuff. This is a silly thing. Indeed you are correct Sput, I'm talking about a new store called Big, basically it's just a shop selling DVDs, CDs etc, although it's no...

Re: Is it the beginning of the end for HMV?
Slightly OT, if anyone has a 'Big' store in their town or city, have a look inside, there's one in the Manchester Arndale (Next to the old Manchester City shop) and there's loads of cheap DVDs, CDs and Blu-rays, plenty of BBC and ITV material available too, they don't have much chart stuff, but it ...

Re: Is it the beginning of the end for HMV?
Everything Everywhere Ltd t/a Orange are to close all their franchises in HMV stores by the end of the second quarter, and launch some stores in Asda Supermarkets instead according the the latest Orange Price Guide booklet thingy. Never saw an Orange concession. Interestingly, the weekend Zavvi Not...
