Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
That just stupid of the landlords saying not to some of the deals, I can't see who else will pick up store of that size. its just greed pure and simple, while the public misses out again.
Certainly risky. I assume Berwick and Alnwick are two of them as they're both on The Range's sites ...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
I'm surprised Homebase still had 3-figure numbers of stores. A chunk were sold to Sainsburys a few months back too.
Presumably those 49 stores are doomed and will begin closing down soon, along with the Sainsburys acquired ones which are already closing down.
Same to be honest, I assume they ...

Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread
The Elephant & Castle Greggs in London had the 1980's shop front signage until it closed in 2020.
Interestingly enough the Morrisons in the West Denton shopping centre still has the the original 1990's Market Street architecture inside, which is interesting since the bulkhead signage seems to ...

Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread
Wow, I have often wondered how many 'old-school' McDonald's (and KFC / Burger Kings) are still in existence in this country. I know there are a few left overseas but companies seem to be pretty quick at keeping their restaurants up to date over here.
I know the Burger King in Grimsby used to be ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread
I see Waitrose is planning to open around a hundred convenience stores and refurbish a number of existing stores too. I think convenience stores in the UK are generally quite poor so this’ll be interesting to see.
I guess it depends how they're done. The existing Little Waitrose at Jesmond ...

Not really much of a surprise they've always been the 'worst' of the supermarket in terms of quality etc and were always going to be the shop that ALDI and LIDL ate away at ...

Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread
Not surprised at McDonald's sales dropping. It's a complete waste of money.
There's so many independent burger (and other fast food) places popping up all over the place lately and they're all a league above McDonald's and not a million miles away in price. Massive change from 15 year ago when the ...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
The Gosforth one opened as M&S Simply Food, was rebranded to M&S Foodhall, and is now M&S Food… three brands, and it’s not even been open a decade.
And the online store finder still lists it as Gosforth Simply Food.
Never realised that got rebranded a third time. Must admit I was surprised it ...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
I think the Simply Food name was replaced by Foodhall a few years ago.
Foodhall is stand alone, simply food is franchise at BP garage / moto services.
At least that's how it was. It may have been ditched entirely as a brand now.
All the food halls, definitely used to be Simply Food at one ...
