So in addition to Tesco moving to Nixdorf hardware for their newer tills, I noticed M&S have replaced a load of NCR fastlane machines with DN units but with a different (presumably DX?) software on them.

What have NCR done wrong to deserve all this?

I find christmas came out of nowhere this year. I think the general panic around energy prices etc just removed everyone's sense of fun.

Headsets appear to be the way now at B&Q. There used to be walkie talkies (locally bought) / departmental dect phones (central) in my day but they were always broken and therefore the tannoy got used instead. I've never heard a tannoy at B&Q for ages. Which is good bc the music is once again...

Dundee turn their bikes off "for maintenance" over the winter (ie to stop them being snowed in). Do other cities do the same? What about the boris bikes?
