Re: Want to recreate your own BBC World Service?
Annoyingly I can't find it now, but there is/was a set of videos on YouTube showing behind the scenes at a local radio Children in Need show, being produced with their Mark III desks, with pull faders. From these it's clear that a big advantage of this style of desk is how quickly you can pull a fad...

Re: English only:
Of course not. But English people go to Scottish universities and English MPs had no say in Scottish policy. I guess what I'm arguing for is a mechanism that where legislation or policy passed at Westminster will become de-facto English Law only, because the devolved governments do their own thing, ...

Re: English only:
What I do think is totally unacceptable is that Members of the Westminster Parliament representing seats in Scotland and Wales are able to vote on matters which don't concern their constituents as they are devolved to the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly. However, all MPs are still eligible t...

Re: The Alternative Vote
If that were the case the series would be over after one week. This may be a good thing!dosxuk wrote:Is it not unfair that the people who voted for the eliminated contestant in the first week get a chance in subsequent weeks to vote for the winner? I think they should have their phone lines cut off.

Re: The Alternative Vote
AV seems to me to be a variant of how the X Factor voting works.
Week 1: 5 contestants, 1 eliminated
Week 2: 4 contestants, people who voted for last week's eliminated contestant vote for somebody else
and so on until you're down to one. In AV it continues until somebody has over 50% of the votes.

Re: The Alternative Vote
That's the way I understand it, Chie. Of course there's no cause for the voter who only chose one candidate to feel hard done by - it's entirely their choice to only make one selection.
