Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

Tesco are going to launch a 'discounter' Aldi/Lidl-like format: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/feb/11/tesco-planning-discount-chain-to-take-on-aldi-and-lidl There's talk that they're going to dig up an old brand for the chain; my money's on Wm Low... Bet they'll fluff it. Much like they ...

Re: Beard trimmers

I have a secret santa type thing with my mates to cut a long story short, One of them made clear the direction he wants me to go "beard trimmer" I've done some research of the current price range £20-25, and the best one I have found is this: * Remington MB320C One of my other mates has s...

It's a fairly big store - about 7 or 8 units size for the centre, so I've heard it will be split between Zavvi, Woolworths, Radio Rentals and John Menzies :)

(Nothing official has been announced).

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

So, it's all over for Tesco Metro Stretford, which has been in Stretford Mall, Manchester for more than 40 years. and which closed this evening for the final time. It was always going to go after Tesco opened an Extra a few miles away towards Old Trafford (confusingly Tesco Extra Stretford) and last...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

Stretford, like the stadium's Stretford End? Not really that confusing at all I'd say. Tesco Extra Trafford or Tesco Extra Old Trafford would have made more sense, given its location. And you do realise the Stretford End of Old Trafford football stadium is so named because it's the end nearest Stre...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

News broke today that the Tesco Metro in Stretford, Manchester will be closing in December. Not entirely surprised as a big Tesco Extra opened 4 or years ago only a couple of miles away (near Old Trafford Stadium but confusingly dubbed Tesco Extra Stretford). Also a large Aldi opened last year at th...

Interesting that there's a Bargain Booze a couple of hundred yards away up towards the A56.

Re: "Select Convenience" from Bargain Booze?

It was so strange seeing that place become a convenience store in the first place - wasn't it originally a pharmacy and a fishing tackle shop? I vaguely remember popping into the new Spar once when it opened but I wasn't particularly enthused by it. It's got a lot of competition with Best One at th...
