Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
s for their brand identity, i wouldnt call it catalogue-esq, its similar to many other high street fashion brands. Unless youre thinking of their old purple logo, which was pretty hideous. You like their newer logo? I can't stand it, it looks Shatliffed. The word 'Peacock' I instantly associate wit...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
I found it usually contained tacky behind-trend clothes at Topman/River Island prices. As I said in a previous post, they need to either lower their prices (best option I reckon) or improve the clothes, but given the name is pretty tarnished that might not get any more customers in. It's a crap nam...

Re:
That's true, but with a rear staircase and other odd design features it's still going to look very strange and I can't see many operators buying them. That and the fact that Ensign seem to have trouble shifting the normal buses they already have! Once you get big enough economies of scale anything ...

Re: 2012 Elections
However as I said, other than being marginally more economical and looking nostalgic, they (NBfL) do a very similar job to the current bunch of Enviro400H hybrids and Wright/Volvo B5L hybrid vehicles which are cheaper and are of perfectly good quality. They are also built within the UK, in fact the...

Re: Trains in the UK
But I think when it comes to infrastructure, it should never be subject to profiteering, and instead should be run with the aim of providing an essential service, taking in the amount of money it needs to cover staff and running costs, as well as upgrade, upkeep, and future expansion/investment! We...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
Seems weird that Bon Marche might outlast Peacocks. Mind you, at least I know what Bon Marche is and who it's for - can't say the same for Peacocks.

Re: 2012 Elections
They discouraged cycling. I personally think that the extra money spent on a London-specific body which could potentially be used for the next decade will save money in the long run in terms of maintenance efficiency. Indeed, what kept the Routemasters in service for so long was the part availabilit...

Re: 2012 Elections
The London Mayoral election is the only one I really care about this year. As much as I dislike the Tory party and Boris I can't really fault any of his actions in position - the New Bus for London should have happened years ago (before the Old Bus for London was withdrawn, really), the bikes are br...

Re: Trains in the UK
One argument I *don't* buy when moaning about britain's railways is the 'age of rolling stock' arguments. Trains are not cars. They are built to have long service lives - 20 years is not old in train terms. Most of the DMUs and EMUs built in the 1980's were introduced to replace stock which was bui...
