Re: Yet another Morrisons thread
There's a couple round here, they're pretty good actually but you can still tell they're a franchise from some of the shelf labels, EPOS systems and the usual weird petrol station junk on sale. Having a Morrisons range is nice but the deals aren't always the same as the main stores - for example the...

Re: Windows 9 is now Windows 10
This seems like a fairly bonkers and overly complex solution but I know how these things can be. Not an expert in EPOS solutions but surely XP is still processing card transactions and therefore must have some contact with the internet in some capacity? As for Windows 10, what you really want is the...

Re: Adverts that irritate and entertain
Have you seen the SunLife advert? "I saw the ads with Parky!" It's like they're acting badly on purpose. All of these life cover adverts are dreadful. I also despise the British Seniors one where the woman is pottering about trying to look like she's your average woman doing the housework...

Re: Adverts that irritate and entertain
The sheer horrendousness of this advert is beyond words:
If you look at their YouTube version they have equally hackneyed and nauseating versions for autumn and summer, all with the same script.

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread
There's also a couple of ex-Jacksons store round here that are pretty awful. The one by my house (Truro Works?), appears to be closing this coming Sunday, which will be annoying as it leaves a fairly big gap where there's no convenience store (except the Spar in the station car park, and that's a p...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread
The Sainsbury's fuel stations at Meadowhall are still very much in the "making life taste better" phase - I suspect it was refitted in 1999 based on the fact that the totem pole still has four star listed. There's also a couple of ex-Jacksons store round here that are pretty awful.

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread
I think a lot depends on your local superstore - if it's located in a rubbish area/not a very nice store that's bound to change your perception of the chain as a whole. I hear a lot of people complaining about Co-op on here - but our local store's had an extensive refurb in the latest branding and i...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
The question that keeps bugging me is, when the inevitable happens and WHS bites the dust, what will happen to all the Post Offices that have assumed their new positions? Will customers trudge through an empty shop floor over perilous carpet in order to reach the PO desks? This actually happened at...

Re: Cashzone ATMs
On another ATM related note, I wonder how many ATMs still run ancient OSes - OS/2, NT 4.0, 2000, XP Embedded? I imagine a lot run Windows 7 Embedded but even it's days are numbered - support ends in 2 years. A number of the XP machines are running 'POSready 2009', which is sold as a version of Wind...

Re: Cashzone ATMs
Note Machine's UX is appalling. You'd think these things would be easy to get right by now. When they first took over the ex-Co-operative Bank ATMs in Co-op stores they had the worst UI - it's since been updated to match their other ATMs. My best guess is that those ATMs are Wincor Nixdorf and so t...

Re: Beard trimmers
I really like the Philips OneShave - not as adjustable as a proper beard trimmer but a lot nicer on the skin and also doubles as a shaver.
