Re: Franchises
WillPS - yes, I hear that bit is to be demolished but I can't see it happening any time soon - the area where the new market is being built has been an empty piece of land for at least a year. Similarly Park Hill has some new windows, but the rest is just an empty shell - complete disaster zone, god...

Franchises
Of all the McDonalds I've come across, I only know of 3 that are no more. Chessington's and Alton Towers' became Burger Kings following a contractual dispute with Merlin, so they hardly count. The only real example is the Spaceship one in East Anglia, and I don't think that was ever franchised. Bas...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
We have just had a refit in our local store we had the old green/blue argos store checker until this refit, now we have the touch screen and also a new voice for the order numbers and a LCD TV instead of an old 27ich CRT lol. I have also noticed our local BK has had a refit on the counter and they ...

Re: What is the Co-op known as where you are?
Cheers for that WillPS - I never went in either. They call it a discount store on the website which suggests it might be old stock that SCS shoved in there from Castle House/Hillsborough - who knows!

Re: What is the Co-op known as where you are?
I can remember as a boy where I lived it was called Crazy Cuts SCS (Sheffield Society) operated a Pound-shop chain named "Sound as a Pound" I remember that place! There was one at Manor Top, not sure of any others - I never knew it was run by SCS though. There was a picture of that place ...

Re: Adverts that irritate and entertain
Chie, you're watching the second advert. That is dire.. why are they doing hipety hopety music.. I don't get it. (and I am a bloke) I am able to express my feelings - its a steaming pile of sh*t. Its so bad, my I wanted to rip my eyeballs from their sockets and throw them under a bus. Finally some ...

Re: Adverts that irritate and entertain
That advert makes me want to throw knives at my TV. It is absolutely awful in every single way, cannot bear to listen to it.

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
Our local Focus has roots back to the late 1980s when it was a Great Mills store and the retail park was built - it still retains a lot of the Great Mills decor with hideous pink and lime green floor tiles. It's been pretty much deserted since a new Homebase opened nearby a couple of years ago - I c...

Re: Olympics. Meh.
I must agree with Chie - that monument is absolutely hideous, it looks like a piece of melted construction equipment. Such a shame, when as you say something much nicer could have been there.

Re: Mobile phone insurance
http://www.protectyourbubble.com/gi-mobile-phone-insurance.html Theirs is about £3.99 a month for your phone. When I got my phone, the man at T-Mobile told me that T-Mobile were the only people who could provide the insurance at £5.99 a month and no-one else did it. Either he was an idiot or an arse...
