Re: Visa (Credit) not everywhere you want to be
More generally, I would have hoped the interchange cap would have been removed entirely from the EU-inherited U.K. law, rather than this grey area (which benefits nobody except card issuers). If the US is any indication, retailers don’t increase prices by the amount of the fee to compensate and full...

Re: Masks
I’m not only bored of masks, I’m bored of discussing masks. Though I’m happy to wear one if asked nicely, or if I sense that not doing so would make someone uncomfortable.
I’d much rather the time and effort went into vaccination.

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times
I get the impression that it’s the same as people not getting better after any illness. In that a proportion have some complication (pretty easy to see and explain), a proportion have mental health issues (hardly surprising), and possibly a tiny number have a weird complication. As opposed to the on...

Sod all that can be done really, unless we somehow limit provision of phone numbers to companies who can prove a bonafide UK existence. 10p charge to call/text a phone number you haven’t called/texted within the last 365 days. Plus the option for recipients to opt out of the scheme. Problem solved.

I’d have expected the animated reveal to try and make that obvious, but it doesn’t either.

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times
The reopening roadmap looks pretty good to me. The sweet spot for the things I enjoy will be in 6 weeks’ time and that’s not awfully long.

Re: What device do you general browse (and particularly post to) Metropol on?
I do almost all my casual web browsing from a phone these days; it’s as good a way as any to occupy dead time. When I’m on a laptop or desktop it is usually with a specific purpose (work, content creation, etc). Even though I also prefer a full size keyboard, I unquestionably type more words on my p...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times
So will there be any now once we get past the middle of March and the imposition of restrictions starts being measured in terms of years? Surely that should be the point at which this has gone too far? Again, I doubt. My hope is that it will be accepted that there are restrictions and then there ar...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times
I wouldn't say that is obvious actually. Some restrictions yes (Hands, Face, Space, rule of 6, limits on household mixing etc) but they should always have stopped short of lockdowns and closing the economy. Until lockdowns are ruled out, irrespective of what happens, we will never get out of them. ...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times
I think it’s obvious that we had to be in lockdown while there were 1000+ deaths per day. Even if lockdowns didn’t reduce it by much it would be unthinkable to add to that figure. I personally disagree but I can accept I am wildly at odds with public sentiment in that opinion. But to quote myself fr...
