Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-65322972 Just me or does this feel like a bit of a stretch? I'd have maybe understood a bit more if it had red in it. And it's not like the blue is specifically in a square. Can't say I thought of the Lidl logo once when I've previously seen it in store. A massiv...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

Tesco are closing eight in-store pharmacies in August. The stores affected haven't been announced yet. This is after Lloyds Pharmacy announced they were closing all their pharmacy concessions in Sainsbury's. I wonder what the logic here is. You'd think, especially if franchised out, they'd not cost...

Re: Pres Cafe Watch News and Information Board

Ahh, Joe, you’re another beauty. Constantly whining about everyone on pres cafe being negative when you’re the most negative person on either of these forums. You and Phil are two peas in a pod. And as for you, Pete and Nick and all the other pathetic far-right sycophants, sticking up for that crus...

Re: The unofficial motorway services thread

Nandos and Pizza Express seem unusual choices for motorway services as you need to wait for your food. All the other outlets are instant serve.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

I recently visited an Extra service station and it was very nice but, that logo is definitely designed to look as similar to McDonald’s isn’t it? (It had a Burger King). https://extraservices.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Extra_SkeltonLake_July2020-96-2.jpg Do we have an official thread on motor...

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread

A local McColls has a " Morrisons Daily coming soon" poster in its window. Which begs the questions 1 - is this the end of the Safeway brand... again 2 - the shop in question is a large, modern, decent ceilinged, well lit branch. But McColls have some right run down dumps, would Morrisons ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

I’ve been meaning to comment on the new M&S self-service checkouts for a few months, as wherever I’ve encountered them I’ve found them to be terrible. I only had two items but they didn't seem the quickest. The new zebra undocking tablets on the tesco scan as you shop is a massive improvement o...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

So in addition to Tesco moving to Nixdorf hardware for their newer tills, I noticed M&S have replaced a load of NCR fastlane machines with DN units but with a different (presumably DX?) software on them.

What have NCR done wrong to deserve all this?

Re: The Co-op Thread

As a result of the takeover Costcutter also moved from using Nisa's own 'Heritage' label (which they had recently swapped to from P&H's 'Independent' label) to Co-op too. It was a rather rapid improvement in quality. The speed of the Jacks replacement of Euroshopper and Happy shopper brands is ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

What a great site. Would love to see a long read on the Calais store (or stores plural judging by this map ) which I remember reading about as a kid in one of their mags but never knew anything more about it. Vaguely remember seeing that Tesco had one as well, don't know if any other chains did? We...

Re: How was Your Christmas Day?

I find christmas came out of nowhere this year. I think the general panic around energy prices etc just removed everyone's sense of fun.

Like how Boris ruined Christmas for the previous three years...
