Re: Fragrances

on the subject of fragrances, are the harrods beauty stores something elsewhere or just in Edinburgh? I thought it was the lessees from the debenhams beauty hall clubbing together to get a location in St James's Centre.

I appreciate I could google but i didn't. so there.

Multiroom comes to BBC Sounds on Alexa

Seemingly 10 million years after we lost it when the BBC pulled their stations from tunein, and although there was a always a workaround, they've finally brought multiroom to BBC Sounds. Although typically you've got to ask in a convoluted way. https://radiotoday.co.uk/2023/11/bbc-sounds-enables-mul...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

apparently they've finally updated their ancient banking app so you don't need the stupid wee calculator card reader to send tiny amounts of money any more. i'm a shameless "oh i'll sort the bill" person on nights out (I want the Amex points) but there was always one colleague who used pay...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Darlington is apparently in a similar situation, and the store's closure has lead to the car park temporarily closing until the lifts can be locked out of use: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tees-66897703 Both ex. Presto stores. Darlington is different to North Shields though, the lifts are ...

Re: Lovely Lightbulbs

My kitchen, of the no window + 5x GU10 fame, has now been upgraded to Philips Hue bulbs with a motion sensor and its the best thing I've done in ages. Being able to just leave them to turn themselves on / off and have them come on dimmer at night is a real timesaver. The Hue app itself though is a b...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Not sure if it's been mentioned on here but it the cafes are independent aswell as the North Shields one is currently trying to flog the furniture off on Facebook and has confirmed they're getting the boot because of it. interesting that Wilco are the landlord for them, I'd have thought, given the ...

ish being key there, the upstairs that had been installed for when it was Next never seemed to be strong enough for the shelving and stock and the lift was wholly unsuitable.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

North Shields is an odd store. It's the former Safeway in The Beacon Centre (covered town centre disguised as a mall). The cafe had stayed the same since Safeway closed in about 1994 (when they put their focus on the larger Whitley Bay branch) and there are several small sublet units (cobbler etc) t...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region

Although I've got used to it, personally I think Maccies was better the way it was before. And as said, they do still provide some sort of counter service if you want it. I think that's bc the burgers dont have time to sit under the lamps and therefore the cheese doesn't melt as well and bun doesn'...
