Re: Another High Street Rebrand

They seem to be slowly rolling it out rather than a blanket swapout. I'm hoping it means the introduction of self service checkouts in time - they trialled them in Sheffield around 2008 before the rebrand when they still had IBM registers, but they ripped them out when the Fujitsu ones were introduc...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

A bit of an odd one, but Frankie and Benny's have gone back to the old logo that they changed in January 2018 - and seem to have toned down some the new, more playful branding they introduced at the time. It was a bit jarring at the time and didn't really fit with the old New York diner theme most o...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

They've just done something similar at a site in Chesterfield - it used to be a Little Chef/Burger King, more recently just a Burger King (using the old, unrefurbished Little Chef dining area for many years) and has now been totally refitted at a Sainsburys, Vape Store and Burger King with a dining ...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

In fairness that second logo might have stuck around a bit longer if Santander hadn't bought them and brought them under their own corporate brand. I also disagree about people not wanting their bank to be "trendy" - see Starling/Monzo/Revolut/N26, and banks like Smile/Cahoot/First Direct ...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Most of Boots in Meadowhall is closed off for refurbishment - the signs explaining the refurb are all in the new style.

I wonder if it will be one of the first examples of their new store design? I'll update once I see it completed.

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Seemingly not inside going by this photo.

I was hoping they might have had a new look inside, Boots stores are incredibly bland. Maybe we'll see something new in the coming months.

Re: The Co-op Thread

That is new EPOS equipment anyway, Co-op seem to be switching to Windor Nixdorf (or Diebold Nixdorf as it is now) from the existing IBM kit, but running the same software.

Central England Co-op are also moving away from IBM to HP for their EPOS systems.

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

I still find the voice on the Tesco self service checkouts really bizarre - he has the nasally voice of someone from a cheesy regional radio advert. Even weirder are the things he says like "Find your item, or have a browse" - because of course you're going to have a browse of what you fan...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

I'm a fan too - if it's anything like my Starling card it's much more resilient to wear and tear, the silver coating on the embossed numbers always rubs off quickly on regular cards in my experience making them hard to read. Having switched to pretty much every bank in the UK for cash, I'm settled o...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

I remember that - it was a very bizarre shopping experience. Like you say (and can see) it was barely touched fit out wise, only a couple of floors were opened so you couldn't get to some of the bits shown in the photos like the service desk/restaurant. I think it closed as Sunwin in 2006 and never ...

https://twitter.com/Femi_Sorry/status/1082306981828968448 How thoroughly depressing, and what a bunch of absolute wankers. I know this isn't representative of the country as a whole but I fear this sort of behaviour only encourages other pig-headed imbeciles such as these to come forward. Politics i...
