Re: The New Real Thing

I have cans of Coke Zero in the house as a more regular (but not that regular!) drink. It's reasonable and tastes way better than Diet Coke, which I consider to be completely different drink to the Coca-Cola/Coke Zero options. When I'm out, I'll always still head for Coca-Cola as my preferred option...

Re: Teeth

Also with you on that Alan... Being an NHS patient(?) in a bupa practise, I've been shuffled around from dentist to dentist in the past. One thing I noticed is each dentist has their particular agenda - one told me how I needed to stop drinking coffee and brush a lot more if I didn't want my teeth t...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

I can remember one supermarket (possibly Asda) trialling a till system that allowed it to be both manned or self serve, with the screen spinning round and the interface changing depending on what mode it was in. Never really seen them since so I guess it was logistically a bit of a challenge - not ...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region

Not my region, but Google News likes to tell me a lot about trains in Wales... This popped up in my news feed the other day. Out of interest, I went to watch the video... https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/first-train-transport-wales-livery-15256289 Marvel at the camera work at the st...

Re: Hits Radio

The comedy Dave thing definitely seems like a desperate attempt to erode Moyles' audience. Gemma Atkinson was on James Martin's itv show this morning and pretty much the only two things I picked up from her interview was "We're from Manchester" and "Comedy Dave is on the show". I...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

ASDA also have an infinitely better frozen vegetarian section, better pop selection, worse clothing selection, better own-brand low fat yoghurt selection and my local one also has a McDonald's in it. I'd go as far as saying Asda have a better food section. Fresh fruit and veg from Sainsbury's seems...

Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread

The mindset change that this policy aims to do is to put sugar in the same bracket as booze and fags - a luxury / vice. Difference being that the two vices mentioned were targeted at least partially for their impact on those not partaking - passive smoking and antisocial behaviour. My response to a...

Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread

I too have an issue when it comes to state sanctioned diet - removal of options doesn't count as education, so while the initial effect may be an improvement in health, these adults who "can't be trusted" will still opt for sugar en-masse as soon as the opportunity arises. Take the superma...

Re: Windows 9 is now Windows 10

Are you able to install WSUS on a machine to trap updates with Win10 and then point the clients to pick up only the approved updates? Just had a look a man-look* at the WSUS system requirements and I can't see a Windows server requirement for it (we'd been running it for years on an outdated OS) - s...

Re: Powerline Adapters

Could well be - it's along the lines of what I was thinking, although without the correct jargon! I tried moving the powerline transmitter yesterday. It had previously been in a bedroom socket which was the most convenient for connection, but the furthest away from the mains distribution board. For ...

Re: Powerline Adapters

I've been running a TP Link set up to my shed (every shed needs internet, right?) and generally they work really well. I did have problems initially when they were connected via an extension cable, but since I've installed fixed cabling, they don't really seem to disconnect at all. I have another pr...
