Re: Long forgotten brands that sank without trace

In Germany, there is a tendency for some supermarkets to have a "trinktmarkt" which stocks all sorts of beers and soft drinks in these strange plastic crate things. This is due to the fact that said crate, along with the bottles, have a refundable deposit on them and there is a frau sat b...

Re: Long forgotten brands that sank without trace

(Dundee's Megabowl is a separate, unrelated business) and closed down earlier this year. It's currently having the guts ripped out of it for some reason given that the leisure park it lived on is the biggest white elephant in the whole city. It defiantely closed down earlier than that- I stayed wit...

Re: Do you believe in UFO?

Of course UFOs exist. if it flies and is unidentified, it's a UFO. And there's plenty of flying objects that haven't been indentified. Depsite what stupid people think, UFO doesn't equal "alien spaceship"!

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

Wow - I love this kind of thing and must now find an excuse to go to Derbyshire. I wonder if it will be as awesome as Brent Park Tesco . Sadly looking on Streetview, it looks like the Brent View Tesco has been demolished and replaced with a modern Tesco Extra at some point over the last couple of y...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

A few weeks ago I was in Ashbourne, in Derbyshire, and their branch of Sainsbury's is still an old "J Sainsbury" branch, looks like it was last refurbed circa 1997. Although one of the fire exits and "reduced to clear" sections still has signs in the late 80s/early 90s style. htt...

Re: TV Forum Watch News and Information Board

Well, a CWilliams1983 has replied to this transdiffusion blog about the YouTube Cwilliams- he seems as pissed off as the rest of us about him. http://www.transdiffusion.org/blog/2012 ... t_shocking

I presume the one on TV Forum is the same person!

Re: Lillibullero

I didn't actually know they still used the bow bells! It's been around 3 years since I last set up my shortwave radio, but I hadn't heard the bow bells since around 2006, all the BBC WS transmissions I came across just crashed straight into the start of programmes. The V and B-B-C interval signals s...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

Interestingly, after mentioning the Sevenoaks Tesco a couple of weeks back, I read an article today claiming it's supposedly the last remaining store with a separate "Home n Wear" section, which were a staple of Tesco stores back in the 70s and 80s. I do remember the out-of-town store here...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

A poor effort. They should have used this logo and done the rest of the design in a similar style: http://www.flickr.com/photos/47381765@N04/5402292744/in/photostream/ I've got a shit load of bags in that style, that I rescued out my grandparents garage circa 1998! I still like to visit the Tescos ...

Re: 2012 Elections

Where I live (Mansfield) is probably one of the biggest disasters of elected mayors, and I can't believe we've been stuck with him for 10 years. An "independent" who is basically a tory-in-disguse and him and his cronies have completely damaged the town over the past decade, not having a c...

Re: TV Forum Watch News and Information Board

Surely the channel codes alone are proof that he's genine? It's not like it's just for the BBC and ITV channels, he has a very elaborate system for every single channel out there, which must have taken a hell of a lot of time and effort to come up with. I can't see a WUM putting that much in just to...
