Re: Another High Street Rebrand
Will they go round changing all the station signs they've replaced with ones in Northern's corporate style over the past decade? They'd have been better off just leaving them as the old British Rail style.

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
The Thanet sign looks yellow to me, and they're definately yellow on the November '91 openings in this issue: https://jsjournals.websds.net/Content/PDFFiles/SA_JSJ_46_1.pdf but orange on the Jan/Feb '92 openings here: https://jsjournals.websds.net/Content/PDFFiles/SA_JSJ_46_2.pdf#page=2 Interesting ...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
Thanks for that, I've just spent about an hour looking through those! It has answered a question I wondered though- when did the J SAINSBURY signs on stores change from Yellow to Orange, the Store Opening section there indicates it was at the very beginning of 1992!

Maybe they'll insist on them staying, it's a way of making money even after they've sold off the company I guess. Something that quite often happens!

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
One of our stores here still had the red & black border around the inside with the old circular B&Q logo at various intervals right up until it closed last year! For whatever reason they never took it down over the years even though that logo was taken down from outside the store around 1996...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
The strange period where they were using 2 different logos! http://up.metropol247.co.uk/james2001/latest.gif This one which popped up on adverts, carrier bags and the website, but I don't recall ever appearing on product labels or the main store signs (I do remember seeing some Locals with that logo...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
And the toddler in the trolley is now a mother herself, and I filmed her wedding video last year- how time flies, eh?
Wasn't hard to dig out that video when I digitised everything 3 years back anyway!

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
I dug out the video of the Sainsbury's Derby Kingsway circa December 1991, not brilliant quality, but then it is a 24-year old home video from a 2nd gen VHS. You can see the cigarette counter that was outside the automatic doors in the top 2 (which was further down the corridor in Will's 2nd picture...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
Although it doesn't say so in that document, I think a part of the prize will be the ability to expand the dozen or so stores with an adjoining Homebase. Kingsway store in Derby must be crying out for this; always seems busy yet it still wears a combination of mid-90s stuff and Greenwich Blue. The ...

I don't recall the fact he's a graduate ever mentioned on-screen during the adverts, though I might have missed it.Might have paid too much attention to the gluten free Latimers to notice! Doesn't help he dresses and acts like a teenager though!
