Re: The Wikipedia Blackout
I think their blackout was pretty much spot on. I haven't heard anything of Wikipedia being hated at all (over the blackout anyway). What Wikipedia did was raise awareness of the SOPA issues; probably on a level that no other site managed. Yes you could get round it, but that was what made this diff...

Re: BT Master Socket issues
The weird thing about the charges BT make for calling out an engineer to make changes is it's cheaper to do them yourself and risk getting fined later on. I wanted to move my master socket, but didn't fancy paying for somebody to come and unscrew two terminals. I moved it myself with no problems. La...

Re: Your first job...
Washing, refuelling, changing gas cylinders, filling water tanks and pumping out toilets for a hire boat company every Saturday. Possibly the most enjoyable part time job I had!

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
I don't know if it's just because your brain instantly recognises the English letters and, therefore, focusses on them rather than the arrow, but I always notice the arrow far quicker in the Arabic version. http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/subliminal.png edit: link added because the image was too big!

Re: McDonalds 1955 Burger;
...Unless you are ever up in this area and come across a Ribble Valley Inns. They're mostly in Lancashire although there is one near Skipton and they are pretty amazing! They were opened by Michelin starred chef Nigel Haworth and they've done a good job of carrying through the successful restaurant ...

Re: New Facebook
At the start of the timeline video, I was quite impressed. I think I'd still be impressed if a friend had put it together himself on a personal website as a demonstration of some web technologies, but I'm struggling to see its usefulness in facebook. Once everybody has a timeline profile, I think it...

Re: Google+
While I still have an account, I stopped using it when the android app crept to an obese 12mb, taking up valuable.desire storage space. It's not even like the app did anything particularly clever either. It just sat there taking up space! Although I thought plus could have been a good link between G...

Re: Old Pictures.... remember?
Even though I'm not originally from here, I love searching through the extensive archives at http://www.leodis.net for photos of Leeds. It's a shame the interface isn't brilliant and searching for anything in particular is somewhat cumbersome, but the sheer amount of photos and comments from communi...

Re: Tesco Image Thread (and other supermarkets)
If it's anything like Sainsbury's, it will be: - Press "Use my own bags" - Till appears to do nothing for 3-4 seconds making me jab at the screen again - It then commands you to put the bags on the bagging area scales, so I put my two bags-for-life on the scales - 2-3 seconds pass as it '...

Re: The *OFFICIAL* Asda thread
My only problem with Asda is I can't rely on them for certain items. It could just be the area that my Asda is in, but it would be nice not to have to fall back on Sainsburys invariably. I don't really see the point in being open 24 hours if they don't stock the fruit and veg constantly, although th...
