Re: Another High Street Rebrand

To add to the list of problems - I don't understand the logic in a stacked logo with a small WH and a big S if the name is just WHS now? Perhaps a separate experiment for a future rebrand of the remaining bigger stores as 'Big S'? Someone really wanted to use the name 'Big W' but found it had alrea...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

With more of their big stores closing and Smiths only being interested in the small airport and train station outlets now, maybe the rebrand makes sense. They'll need the shorter name just to fit it on all those much smaller unit signs. I don't think this is a real problem they have. The limiting f...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Imagine going for a rebrand after all these years and not embracing the WHS cube logo. I’ve always thought it would do well for them in the same way it has worked for the Co Op. Let’s face it, they should play on their heritage because it certainly doesn’t compete on price. Agree completely. Open g...

Re: Media Talk Forum Watch News and Information Board

It's not really an opinion. It's a statement that I don't understand who it's for and what need of those users it'd fill that isn't already met by Pres Cafe. There's no vacuum. ... Please, help me understand what you perceive the vacuum to be which you intend to capture contributors with or from? T...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

I like how many of the replies are genuinely thinking it's one of these fake shops who moves in after the real-deal pack up. Just awful really, what are they thinking? They want a logo which is vaguely evocative of both the NHS and the original Doctor Who logo, but doesn't owe anything to their own ...

As I said in the original post, all will have their own opinions regarding this forum. And your entitled to them. It's not really an opinion. It's a statement that I don't understand who it's for and what need of those users it'd fill that isn't already met by Pres Cafe. There's no vacuum. For cont...

Re: How much would the licence fee have to rise before you would cancel it?

I still think lumping it in with council tax is the way forward. Council tax discounts would neatly apply to tv licensing too, plus it becomes a progressive tax rather than what it is now. Bigger houses pay more, seems fair enough. Being part of council tax also gives it that slight distance from t...

Re: How much would the licence fee have to rise before you would cancel it?

In the news today, a suggestion that next year the TV licence could rise £ 15 to £173 or about £14 per month. For me, it still represents good value. In the same ballpark as Netflix and Disney+, but, I don’t think it could go much higher. I don’t watch too much terrestrial tv these days, and don’t ...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Have Poundland shops been closing in your parts? We've had 3 close in recent times near me. Liverpool's Queen's Square shop, St Helens' Church Street Shopping Centre, and the one in Huyton. Not where I live down South, but possibly they're *still* rationalising the store estate from the 99p Stores ...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

I'm still on Visa with Natwest when they were just starting to issue Mastercard replacements when I had my card replaced in 2022. Not that it's a major issue, but it's clearly a long process to move everyone across. It's still valid until 2025. 6 of my 7 Natwest Group cards are now Mastercard. Thre...
