Re: Another High Street Rebrand
I went to the retail park the Homebase in question is on today (I went to Sainsbury's if you're interested) and it appears to be a bit more than a new Argos. The Homebase is becoming a 'Homebase design centre', and new signage they'd been putting up whilst I was in Sainsbury's carries the Homebase ...

Re: iOS 8/iPhone 6/Apple Watch
Sad (although I knew it was coming) that my trusty iPhone 4 is now deprecated, what with iOS 8 only running on the 4S and upwards. It's still in pretty good nick, so I'm not looking to replace it yet, although the iPhone 6 is oh-so-tempting.

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region
The thing with Greater Anglia (I refuse to acknowledge the Abellio name - it's stupidly long!) is that the rolling stock is *still* assigned to the route depending on whether it was a First Great Eastern or an Anglia Railways service 10 years on! I think that the trains that run on the Norwich to Lo...

Ooh! I never knew that! Presumably a backronym, as 'one' itself was chosen for its unifying status, I'd have thought...Critique wrote:...turns out it stood for 'operated by national express'...

Poundland and Iceland are sharing two floors of what used to be, many years ago, Littlewoods. I assume they've split them up into individual units, but there used to be escalators connecting the two floors. Whilst Iceland are making full use of their space, Poundland have erected a fake wall to hid...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
The Oxford HMV (as discussed in the new year) never did close - the lease was supposed to run out on 17th March, and they run a substantial closing down sale, but presumably it has been renewed, as the shop did not shut and all the references to it closing down have been removed.

Re: April 8 2014: The end of Windows XP
Why fix something that isn't broken? This is exactly what is happening - they're no longer fixing the broken bits and you're on your own. Exactly, How long should Microsoft be expected to devote resources on maintaining a 13 year old OS. Apple generally only support an OS for maybe 2 or 3 years at ...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
Rather amusingly to those of us rail bods, that class 90 all shiny in its new white coat and faux window frame with new logo is pulling a tatty mk3 which, from the door colour, appears to still be in "one" livery, two franchise brands ago... I reckon it's Anglia Railways livery - ISTR the...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
Greater Anglia, the primary rail provider for most of the East of England, has done a Rakuten-Play.com rebrand and now appears to be abellio Greater Anglia. I thought it was a more recent development, but it looks like they were using the new logo last November... In the process, their logo has gon...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
I can confirm that HMV in Oxford is currently holding a closing down sale. Very saddening indeed.
