Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread
Tesco now recruiting for 'mystery new format' stores. Apparently they will be run as a separate operation from the rest of their store estate. Strongly reckoned that they are going to tackle Lidl and Aldi head on and the new stores will not use the Tesco name. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-44...

Re: The Co-op Thread
apparently the most important thing for co-op staff is that they are paid every four weeks, not monthly, meaning they have 13 pay days a year on odd dates. So what is the very first thing on the homepage? Don't Tesco also do that? Fairly sure Sainsburgers do too. GWR do. Four Seasons pay 4 weekly too

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
Grainger Games - a gaming store chain based in Newcastle with 67 stores has closed all its stores. It's a shame as they always had great service and they were reasonably priced - the one in my local town centre was always quite quiet, but the Grainger Games in Sale where I used to live always had a...

Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread
Nobody is taking your choices away from you and it's not a matter of trust; Pepsi is still available at Pizza Hut, albeit at a higher price. The levy wasn't intended to remove sugary drinks from the market, it was designed to make consumers stop and think about the choice. If you decide as a result...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
I can see Debenhams being acquired by Sports Direct. What, really? A possibility as SD has increased its share holding in Debenhams to 29.7% ( at 30% they would have to put an offer in to buy the remaining shares ), however SD holds similar stakes in other companies and never crossed the 30% thresh...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
It is arguably the biggest brand in the centre now, along with Boots, now that BHS has gone. The main anchor space was a Co-op department store until the mid-90s, then Allders, then TK Maxx (who only used 1 or 2 of the 3 floors) and for the last few years. It was cleared out in 2011 ahead of the fi...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
Hammerson only really want the out of town supercentres. I expect they'll be stripped of Intu branding and the reduced Intu portfolio sold off either as a whole or centre-by-centre. Doesn't bode well for the poor old Broadmarsh centre in Nottingham though, now on its 6th or 7th redevelopment propos...
