I got the first from my 90-year-old grandmother but I hadn't heard of the others. She's quite a fan, so much so that she disconnects the phone for half an hour.

Re: Lotto

Oh well that doesn't sound quite so rash. Nonetheless, I'd break it down into a yearly gift rather than a lump sum - but only because that's what Judge Judy would suggest. Judy knows. You just need to look at her bibliography: * Don't Pee on My Leg and Tell Me It's Raining * Beauty Fades, Dumb is F...

Re: Willy Hanson

I hope he appears in the Australian series they've been filming over in the UK. Apparently the laddettes caused chaos on the flight over and they were met by the police in Dubai or something. EDIT: Ha! Willam Hanson, an etiquette expert, quit work on the show, which is about preparing a group of Aus...

Re: Has she gone too far?

I'm not sure whether or not it makes me a 'proper gay', whatever that is, but I actually quite like Lady Gaga. There's something very individual about her which puts her apart from all the other pop at the moment. I guess you might say her use of the phrase "bluffing with my muffin" is a ...

This one started a catch phrase which has become more or less universal here ('not happy, jan').

These I'm sharing because they're a bit lame.

Call it youthful rebellion.

Re: Oven or Oven?

Uh-ven. I've never heard anyone say Oh-ven - but then we do have our own bizarre (and often grating, at least to my ears) pronunciations over here too. That doesn't make it right! Remember that brits also have a habit of saying "yoghurt" to rhyme the first bit with jog, and pasta to rhyme...

Some antipodean delights for you. The only thing more irritating than this ad is this one.

Just everything about it.

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

I like how McD's refer to themselves as "restaurants". Always. http://www.roxbyarchitects.com.au/images/gallery/mcdi2.jpg The ones here had a makeover not that long ago. They almost look vaguely classy - they also have free WiFi now and TV screens which are nice if you're feeling hungover ...
