It seems the Reach-owned Edinburgh Live website is now getting children to write about their day out on a bus: We raced an Edinburgh tram and Lothian bus.
I appreciate these reporters won't be particularly well-paid, but the quality of the writing is dire.

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
Not unique to Sainsbury's, but I've noticed a new shrinkflation trick in the Laundry aisle. Ariel liquitabs are now adding the 'number of washes' indicator as a separate sticker to the box rather than it being printed directly on the box as part of the normal packaging design (as it has been in the ...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
There will be loads of examples of this going on right now, but my local store was less than subtle about it as tonight they had both versions of the product on display side by side: Out of stock (old stock still in some stores): https://up.metropol247.co.uk/scottishtv/sainsbury_magnum_old.png *NEW ...

Re: Adverts that irritate and entertain
Nationwide are back with another terrible advert. The last two BoE base interest rate rises have come and gone and Nationwide have increased variable mortgage rates each time, but are still pretending they're "working out what this means" for their savers - and have accordingly let their ...

Re: The Co-op Thread
The new Nisa signage prominently features the Co-op logo as if to assure continuity - but just adds to the madness of how many Co-op logos there are and who gets to use which. Interesting! I completely missed the Co-op (Group) acquiring Nisa. I'm guessing customers can't use their Co-op Membership ...

Re: The Co-op Thread
Co-op wars! Scotmid (Scottish Midland Co-operative) has just closed it's store on Raeburn Place in Edinburgh [red map marker below], admitting defeat - after the Co-op (Co-op Group) moved in and opened a plusher new store in late 2020 a mere 3-minute walk down the street [next to the sports ground b...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread
I'm just wondering why the two blokes are engaged in what looks like a highly intellectual chin-stroking discussion in front of an Asda Express. I get the impression the guy in pink is expressing dismay at them travelling all that way only to find there is no food on the shelves or in the fridges -...

Re: Energy bills: How spanked will YOU get?
These rates are meant to be in place until end of September 2024. So, when's a guarantee not a guarantee? When it's the government's Energy Price Guarantee. These capped unit rates on your whole domestic bill now only in place until the end of March, it seems. No detail on what happens next, but hi...

Re: Energy bills: How spanked will YOU get?
It’s been explained terribly which, given the huge sums of money involved, is absolutely terrible politics. Or is it just me not paying enough attention? I don’t know. No, you're right. The headlines about "capped at £2,500" are meaningless to most people as that's all based on an average...

Re: Energy bills: How spanked will YOU get?
I was horrified to learn that those insert coin meters are still in some houses. How will those be dealt with? Those must surely be horrible landlords ensuring a tenant is paying upfront for electricity, rather than an energy company still utilising these? I can't imagine any supplier is going arou...
