Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

that store is oddly large in general. was it formerly a sava centre perhaps? do you need to be a costco member to use their petrol station? The entire infrastructure around straiton and its retail parks is horrendous. You probably already know there has been a Sainsbury's (and a former Homebase - w...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

Sainsburys at Straiton in Edinburgh (next to ikea) has finally had its disaster of a canopy replaced, yet still makes you go into the shop to pay Have always wondered why they felt this store needed 16 fuel pumps. Have also been confused by the Costco next door having pay-at-pump only pumps, but no...

Re: Lovely Lightbulbs

Don't know about your specific bulbs, but I use https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/ for all my LED replacement bulbs and always get excellent service. Thanks! The G4s are the first three bulbs listed on this page . Very keen prices for the halogen capsules, so I will stick with these for now. Turns out t...

Re: Lovely Lightbulbs

I realise this thread has had a bit of a hiatus, but I'm looking for recommendations for good LED G4 bulbs. My under-cabinet kitchen lights use these. I've just been sticking in Tesco 20w halogen capsules, which claim to give 374 lumens of 3000K warm white light for 2 years. The light is quite nice ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

Before it closed, the butcher counter at my local Sainsbury's would package up steaks, chops, chicken breasts etc, label them and put them in a fridge in the chilled aisle. A totally pointless exercise that looked rather desperate.

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times

In other Covid-related news, my local M&S has got the nicer-smelling hand sanitiser back in (the free stuff you get as you go in the door).

Much better than the rough grain alcohol stinky stuff they were using for a while.

Re: The current state of Christmas lights

Just stumbled across these... https://www.lights4fun.co.uk/products/150-multi-coloured-led-traditional-pickwick-christmas-lights seem to be multi colour LEDs rather than warm white inside a shade, but might be a good compromise... will order some when they come back in stock, which will probably be...

Re: The current state of Christmas lights

The other thing is I've never been able to locate a nice set of LED lights with the old skool flowery shaped shades - you can still get these on old fashioned sets, but not LED. Do any of you guys share my nostalgia for old fashioned lights - and have you been able to source a modern LED set which ...

Gotta be honest, I don't think you're trying hard enough: Swiss cheese.

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region

So the NX/Stagecoach merger (takeover) is confirmed as going ahead . Not sure about Citylink coaches up here which is owned jointly by ComfortDelGro/Stagecoach. It's a rather tired looking operation - would be nice to see it branded NX with a better website and apps. My former wish won't be happenin...
