Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Could be? But I do like the new PC World / Currys orb though.

Re: Help me find a Freeview box that doesn't die after a yea

I guess Chris' OnDigital box is still okay simply because Surrey hasn't been through DSO yet, so the muxes are still at the low rate of bicycles. I'm afraid, Chris, that you'll get forced into a change when DSO hits the Guildford relay, or whatever it is you watch from. Indeed. With that in mind, d...

Re: Help me find a Freeview box that doesn't die after a yea

I have no idea about current Freeview boxes, but I do find that the old ondigital boxes are quite solid. I've had my Nokia mediamaster 9850 for years now, I must've got it in 2001/2002 (even then, second hand, so it must be about a decade old) and it still is going strong now, albeit with the odd ra...

Re: Why there is no such thing as a 24 Hour Tesco Store

Perhaps it is to allow the tills to process and update stuff? When I worked for a certain now-bust booze retailer the till would always poll between midnight and 1am to send / receive data to head office and would apparently lock you out of the system until it was done.

Re: HD Voice

I wish they'd make their coverage near to 100% as possible, before adding bells and whistles on like HD voice. Better quality is no use if you can't get a signal at all!

Re: Comet's old logo...

Oh yes... "Don't sign on the dotted line until you talk to Comet!" Wasn't it "Don't sign on the dotted line until you talk to Tempo"? Whatever happened to Tempo? A quick Google search reveals that they went into administration in September 2001. Not sure whether a buyer was found or not. http://www...

Re: Bank Charges (yep, that old chestnut again)

Normally this is no problem - if you go into the branch and transfer money from your current acount it's credited immediately and so you've paid on time. What I didn't bank on (no pun intended) was that because I went in to the branch at 4PM the money won't be credited until the next working day (t...

London City could be on that list.

If you can afford it.
Could be too. Oops. ;)

Re: London Oxford Airport?

I've no idea why they even bother to tack "London" on the front of airports which are nowhere near London. For years, I thought Stansted was near London, but when I had to fly from there recently, I found that it actually was in Essex, and I nearly fell off my chair when I tried to plan a train to i...

Bounty > Plenty
What was the rationale behind this one? It just makes it sound totally stupid.
